Thank you to all who visited our poster, "The Impact of Combinatorial Pharmacogenomic Testing on Outcomes in Black and Hispanic Patients," today at the American Psychiatric Association's Annual Meeting.

There's still an hour to hear from Morgan Saulsberry, PharmD, about the GeneSight test's impact on these patients. If you're still looking for more information about the GeneSight test, visit https://genesight.com/for-clinicians/

We are committed to continuous innovation and enhancing the therapeutic relationship between healthcare provider and patient.

That’s why we are bringing you a new version of the GeneSight test, available today. We’ve added three medications – suvorexant (Belsomra®), lemborexant (Dayvigo®) and viloxazine (Qelbree®). Other refinements include revised categorization rules for amitriptyline, removal of clinical consideration 4 from paroxetine when variation is present in HTR2A, and updated phenotype language for the HLA genes. These enhancements to the GeneSight test are based on a comprehensive analysis of peer-reviewed literature.

The updated test is available for prescribing clinicians on starting today. If clinicians have previously ordered the test for patients, they may upgrade their report at no cost to the clinician or the patient though their myGeneSight.com portal.

Watch a video about the upgrade here: https://genesight.com/for-clinicians/

INFORMATIONAL *PRACTICE PEARLS Many times we don’t consider the interactions with things like THC, CBD, and otc Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) but they can have a major impact on the way we metabolize various medications. Here’s a few slides I have made to use in various presentations based on Feb 2020 Guidelines (see ref on slide).

Your body’s ability to respond to the medications is impacted by many factors such as drug/drug interactions, food/drug interactions, lifestyle factors, age, allergies - and your unique genetic code.

The GeneSight test provides genetic information that may help your doctor see the whole puzzle.

Our nation is facing a growing mental health crisis, Mental Health America recently reported in its annual "State of Mental Health in America” report.

The mental health of youth in particular is worsening, yet 60% of this group did not receive treatment in 2017-2018.

Mental Health America's "State of Mental Health in America" report revealed that throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, youth ages 11-17 have been more likely than any other age group to have moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety and depression.

If you are a caregiver for your child or someone young, monitoring for mental illness is increasingly important. Mental Health America offers screening for youth and parents at: https://screening.mhanational.org/screening-tools
