πŸ©ΊπŸ‘ November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month! πŸ‘πŸ©Ί

In 2025, we shine a light on the serious impact diabetes can have on eye health. Over 7 million Americans are affected by diabetic retinopathy, a condition that can silently damage the blood vessels in the retina and lead to vision loss if left untreated.

🎯 This month’s focus:
πŸ”Ή Prevention – Managing diabetes can protect your eyes.
πŸ”Ή Eye Exams – Regular dilated eye exams are key to catching problems early.
πŸ”Ή Early Detection – Spotting diabetic eye diseases early makes treatment more effective.
πŸ”Ή Resources – Organizations like Prevent Blindness and the American Academy of Ophthalmology offer support and guidance.

✨ Take action today: If you or a loved one has diabetes, schedule a comprehensive eye exam and encourage others to do the same. Your sight is worth it.

Think Fast to Clear the Grid!
πŸŸ₯πŸŸ¦πŸš• Did you know that Rush Hour is more than just a fun logic puzzle β€” it’s a brain-boosting tool that strengthens critical visual processing and problem-solving skills?

Whether at home, in the classroom, or in therapy, this traffic jam game delivers BIG brain benefits as players slide their way to a solution!

Here’s what it’s helping develop:
πŸ”· Form Constancy – Recognize and differentiate cars of various shapes and sizes no matter their orientation or location on the grid.
🟠 Visual Memory – Remember previous move sequences and which paths are blocked to improve strategic planning.
πŸ”Ί Sequential Memory – Recall the order of steps taken and mentally plan the next moves in a specific sequence.
🟣 Figure-Ground Perception – Identify movable vehicles and open paths amid a crowded, overlapping layout.
🟩 Spatial Awareness – Visualize how shifting one car affects others and how to maneuver within the grid’s limited space.
🟨 Closure – Mentally β€œsee” the final move needed to clear the red car’s path β€” even before it happens.

✨ Need to simplify the game? Try using beginner-level challenge cards, limit the number of vehicles on the grid, or offer step-by-step guidance to support early problem-solving.

πŸ’‘ Logic meets hands-on learning in this award-winning thinking game.
Perfect for kids, families, educators, and therapists looking for screen-free fun that builds brainpower one move at a time.

🎯 Play smart. Build skills. Beat the jam!

πŸ‘€ Why Is Early Vision Care Important?

Children use their vision for up to 80% of learning and play, so undiagnosed vision problems can impact reading, sports, social skills, and confidence. Many issues don’t show obvious symptoms, which is why early care is essential.

At Prosper Family Eyecare and Vision Development Center, pediatric eye exams check not just how clearly your child sees, but also how their eyes work together and stay healthy.

Exams include testing visual acuity, eye alignment, binocular vision, and overall eye health.

When to Schedule Eye Exams:
β€’ First exam at 6 months
β€’ Again around age 3
β€’ Before starting school (5-6 years)
β€’ Annually after school starts

Early detection means better academic performance, improved coordination, prevention of long-term issues, and a confident child.

We offer personalized care and advanced diagnostics to support your child’s unique vision needs.
✨ Prioritize your child’s vision β€” schedule an exam today!

✨ Vitamin A & Your Vision β€” Why It Matters πŸ‘οΈ

πŸ’‘ We always hear that Vitamin A is good for your eyes, but why exactly?
Vitamin A is essential for retinal health β€” it helps you see in low light and supports the function of the cells in your eyes. Without enough, night vision can suffer πŸŒ™

πŸ‘€ But here’s something many don’t know:
πŸ”Έ Plant-based vitamin A (provitamin A)β€”like beta-caroteneβ€”must be converted by your body before it can be used.
πŸ”Έ Animal-based vitamin A (retinol) is already active and ready to be absorbedβ€”no conversion needed.
⚠️ Some people can’t efficiently convert plant forms into usable vitamin A, so they may need to rely on animal sources.

πŸ₯š Animal Sources:
β€’ Pastured eggs
β€’ Wild fish (like sockeye salmon), cod liver oil
β€’ Cheese & milk
β€’ Liver & organ meats

πŸ₯• Plant Sources (provitamin A):
β€’ Leafy greens
β€’ Orange, red & yellow veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes, bell peppers)
β€’ Fruits like mangoes & apricots

🧠 Tip: Balance both sources if possible β€” your eyes will thank you!
