🎉 Play of the Week Wednesday 🧠👀
Build Visual Processing & Sensory Awareness While You Play!
🟣🔴⚪️ Long road trips are the perfect chance to sharpen observation skills! “Find the Rainbow” turns everyday sights, sounds, and sensations into a fun, brain-boosting adventure that builds visual scanning, discrimination, and sensory integration — all while keeping kids engaged on the go.
📅 Week 4: Five Senses – Find the Rainbow!
Players look outside the car windows and use their five senses to explore the world around them — one color and sense at a time!
🌈 How to Play:
Go through the colors of the rainbow (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet) and find something that matches each color outside the car window. Once the rainbow is complete, play again — this time using your five senses!
👀 Sight: Spot something colorful, shiny, or moving.
👂 Sound: Listen for horns, music, birds, or wind.
👃 Smell: What can you smell — fresh air, rain, or snacks?
✋ Touch: Feel your seat, clothes, or travel blanket — describe the texture.
👄 Taste: Take a sip or bite of a snack and describe the flavor.
✨ Find the Rainbow Variations:
1️⃣ Alphabet Rainbow – Find something outside that starts with each letter of the alphabet in color order.
2️⃣ Nature Rainbow – Only count natural things like trees, flowers, or clouds for your color hunt.
3️⃣ Moving Rainbow – Try to spot moving objects in rainbow order (red car, orange sign, yellow truck...).
4️⃣ Sensory Challenge – Combine all five senses at once! Describe what you see, hear, smell, feel, or taste in one moment.
5️⃣ Memory Rainbow – After the round, recall everything you saw in order — test your visual memory!
🎲 This Game Builds:
🧠 Visual Scanning – Searching scenery for specific colors and details.
🔎 Visual Discrimination – Distinguishing shades and similar objects in the environment.
🧩 Visual Memory – Remembering each color and object in order.
👀 Figure-Ground Perception – Spotting objects in busy or moving scenes.
✨ Sensory Integration – Connecting what you see, hear, feel, and smell into one rich experience.
