We’re honored to see our Director, David Martins, recognized with Family Service of RI's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for his leadership and commitment to equity.

Join us in congratulating David Martins, Director of AIDS Project Rhode Island, as the recipient of FSRI’s 6th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award.

David leads with heart, purpose, and a deep commitment to equity. Through his work at APRI, he has expanded access to compassionate, affirming care for LGBTQ communities and other vulnerable populations. He has also brought people together through meaningful community events, including the Annual AIDS Day Memorial Breakfast and the APRI Run/Walk for Life, while creating opportunities for joy and connection, like organizing outings for APRI clients to experience community beyond services.

We are grateful for David’s leadership and honored to recognize the impact he continues to make across Rhode Island.

As we close out the year, thousands of Rhode Islanders are counting on the services that AIDS Project RI provides — access to free HIV/STI testing, mental health counseling, emergency financial assistance, transportation to medical appointments, and the dignity of a community that will not let them fall through the cracks.

Your gift today is more than generosity.
It is healthcare.
It is stability.
It is survival.

This is the final day to make a tax-deductible donation that directly supports people living with and affected by HIV in our state.

If you believe compassion should be nonnegotiable, please give before midnight.

This month, as we look back on some of 2025’s most meaningful moments, we’re proud to share a beautiful feature from Ocean State Media ART, Inc. that captures the heart of Rhode Island’s connection to the AIDS Memorial Quilt and the powerful community built through remembrance, healing, and storytelling.

At AIDS Project Rhode Island, we’re honored to help carry this tradition forward. Through workshops and community gatherings, APRI creates space for people to remember loved ones lost to AIDS, learn from Rhode Island’s history, and come together to craft new Quilt panels that preserve these stories for future generations.

These panels are more than fabric. They are memories, tributes, and reminders of the lives we lost too soon — and of the community that continues to honor them.

As we wrap up the year, let's revisit a special highlight ❤️

A major milestone for AIDS Project Rhode Island. This April marked the 40th Anniversary of the APRI Run/Walk for Life, which saw a record-breaking turnout. The community showed up in full force to honor four decades of compassion, support, and advocacy for Rhode Islanders affected by HIV.

To commemorate the anniversary, APRI Director David Martins shared a powerful reflection in The Boston Globe on Rhode Island’s journey through the HIV/AIDS crisis and the road still ahead.

Read the full commentary: “40 Years Later: Rhode Island’s Journey Through the HIV/AIDS Crisis and the Road to Zero”:

If we commit the necessary resources now, we can write the final chapter in the history of HIV, writes the director of AIDS Project Rhode Island.

Across Rhode Island, people living with HIV face challenges and most of us can’t imagine uncertainty about treatment, stigma, and isolation.

AIDS Project Rhode Island is here to change that. Every day, we connect individuals to life-saving care, emotional support, and community programs that give them the chance to thrive.

When you give to APRI, you aren’t just donating. You’re joining a community that strengthens Rhode Island and ensures no one faces HIV alone.

Donate today and be the bright light in someone's life this season. Every gift matters. https://aidsprojectri.org/annual-appeal/
