As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we at the Center for Breast Cancer continue our commitment to awareness, screening, and treatment all year long.

Deb Shapiro is a true survivor and a living testament to the expert, compassionate care she received right here in Rhode Island. After they were both treated for breast cancer, she and her daughter founded Paddle for Progress RI to raise awareness about the precision breast cancer care available close to home—and to support research and patient care across the state. Her strength and dedication continue to inspire us every day.

We’re here if you need us — for support, guidance, or care.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, please join us in celebrating the incredible legacy of BSA's Dr. Theresa Graves — a true pioneer in breast cancer care in Rhode Island.

After decades of compassionate service, innovation, and leadership, Dr. Graves retired with a heartfelt farewell at the Paddle for Progress RI event in Wickford — surrounded by colleagues, patients, and friends whose lives she’s touched.

Dr. Graves founded the state’s first breast clinic and helped shape world-class, multidisciplinary care at Brown University Health . Her legacy continues to inspire providers and patients alike to keep paddling forward — together. 💖

💙 Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week

This week shines a light on an often-overlooked issue — breast cancer in men.

We’re raising awareness, encouraging screenings, and supporting research to improve early detection and outcomes.

🔹 Know the risks: family history, genetic mutations (BRCA1/2), radiation exposure, and hormonal imbalances.
🔹 Watch for symptoms: a lump or thickening in breast tissue, ni**le discharge, or skin changes such as redness or dimpling.

Early detection saves lives — learn, share, and spread the word. 🎗️
