Our hearts are with all those affected by the devastating shooting at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, where what should have been a joyful high-school hockey event turned into tragedy. Families, friends, and neighbors are now grieving the impact of this senseless act of violence.
This marks the second mass shooting in Rhode Island in just over three months. The weight of these losses is deeply felt across our state, and the emotional toll reaches far beyond those directly involved. We mourn alongside the victims’ loved ones and stand with everyone shaken by today’s events.
We also want to express gratitude to the first responders, law enforcement, and community members who acted quickly to protect others and bring the situation to an end.
In moments like these, it is important to acknowledge that trauma affects everyone differently. Feelings of shock, anger, sadness, fear, or numbness are all natural responses. You do not have to process this alone.
