You cannot just keep adding aggressive products to an imbalanced system.

Congestion can be influenced by:
• Blood sugar fluctuations
• Heavier winter eating
• Dehydration
• Slower circulation
• Elevated stress
• Inconsistent sleep

When we look at skin through a holistic lens, we ask:
What is happening internally that’s showing up externally?

Clear skin is rarely created by stripping, over-exfoliating, or attacking oil.

It’s created and sustained by:
• Stabilizing blood sugar with protein, fiber, and healthy fats
• Increasing hydration
• Supporting circulation through movement
• Prioritizing sleep
• Regulating the nervous system

Step 1: Stabilize blood sugar.

1. What inspired you to work in wellness and massage?

I was inspired to work in wellness out of a desire to share the restorative power of massage. In this wild world we live in, we need to take every opportunity to heal, and I’m proud to be a part of that.

My favorite treatment is the Winter Nourishing. I love the dry brushing!

If your skin feels more congested or reactive right now, you’re not imagining it.

Late winter is when accumulated stress starts to show up.
When you have dry air, short days, comfort foods, and higher cortisol, breakouts tend to appear because your skin is responding to stress.

I experienced it myself last week. But instead of getting aggressive with harsh products, I focused on regulation through relaxing steam, movement, sleep, and nourishment. Within a day, my skin began to calm down.

Sometimes your skin is calling for support. That could mean strategic, professional correction, internal support, or barrier repair.

If your mind feels overwhelmed, start with the body.
Mental clarity and feeling grounded begins in the nervous system.

A few simple ways to gently reset:
• Slow, nasal breathing with longer exhales
• Short, consistent daily meditation (even 5–10 minutes)
• Gentle movement like stretching, yoga, or walking outdoors
• Heat therapy (sauna or infrared) to release tension
• Touch-based practices like massage or facials to ground the body

When the body feels safe, the mind naturally follows.

One of my personal non-negotiables:
15 minutes of breathwork meditation each morning while drinking hot lemon water and a morning walk outside. Within minutes, I can feel my thoughts slow down and my nervous system settle.
Start small, consistency matters more than intensity.

With mental and emotional cleansing, support is key.
Movement, therapy, meditation, health coaching, and nurturing touch are all wonderful tools.

I think of them like yoga blocks.
A block doesn’t mean you can’t do the pose.
It allows you to access it more fully, safely, and sustainably.
Life works the same way.
When we allow support, we regulate faster, process more healthily, and live more fully than we ever could on our own.

Mental and emotional wellness isn’t something you officially “achieve.”
It’s something you return to, again and again, through small, repeatable practices. It's a journey, not a destination.

Each season brings its own highs and lows. There will be moments when we feel grounded and moments when we feel off track.

But the work we do is not about perfection, so compassion is so important.

When we allow ourselves to fall off track, without judgment, and gently return, the journey can always move back toward health.
