What is Yoga Nidra?
This amazing practice requires no special skills and you don’t even need an official yoga mat! All you do is lay down, close your eyes, and listen to the guidance. During this fully-guided meditation, your brainwave state can shift, allowing your mind and body to rest. Yoga Nidra has a profound effect on reducing stress and tension, improving your sleep quality, helping the body & mind catch up on missed sleep, and more.
What Props do you need?
Whatever will allow your body to be comfortable – ideally in a reclined position. Some people love Yoga Nidra via Zoom because they can practice in a recliner or lying on a comfy couch. Janie Ganga loves to practice lying on top of a bed, with a thin support under the back of her head, a cushion under her knees, and an eye pillow over her eyes. Other folks prefer to be on a yoga mat on the floor, with a blanket over them because your body temperature and blood pressure tend to become lower as you practice Yoga Nidra. Everyone uses their own combination of props! If you have any questions or need recommendations because of an area of discomfort in your body, please just arrive to class a few minutes early and we’ll help you brainstorm with what you have handy at your place.
