After many years of training to be a doctor in sports podiatry and many hours of working with this patient one-on-one, this insurance company felt entitled to dictate our patient’s care. They admitted they don’t specialize in our area of medicine, nor have they ever talked to our patient, yet they decided their opinion of treatment was more important.
This is common behavior from insurance companies. Make it make sense.
This is why we are a direct care clinic, meaning we don’t work with insurance companies in our clinic, but we will help our patients by coordinating with their insurance in situations like these (to get additional imaging to improve care). Our time is best spent in the treatment rooms with our patients, not fighting with insurance companies over the phone and jumping through their hoops.
We prioritize patient care above all else.
