First, there's a lot of misleading, outdated advice out there about going barefoot.

Our feet become strong by interacting with the ground, moving, flexing, and walking on different surfaces, like they have for centuries...

Another example is this fascinating tribe today that lives in a very remote part of Mexico. They regularly run up to 100 miles a day over dirt and rocks.

These runners don’t wear cushioned shoes, in fact they just have a thin sandal made from old tire treads strapped to their feet. But none of these guys have plantar fasciitis, because they have strong feet. Back in the early 70’s,

Runners World, the world’s most popular running magazine, started sending out surveys to their readers about their running injuries.

It might shock you to know that heel pain was not even on the list of running injuries when this survey started, whereas now it is consistently the top most common running injury.
