What is facial gua sha?
A traditional Chinese medicine technique that applies cooling stones to the face, neck and head in specific patterns to accomplish the following:

👋 Hi! I’m excited to announce I was recently certified in gua sha and trained on the accupoints of the head, face, and neck! I have some really amazing treatments I’ll be adding to my offerings this coming week!

As I’m making several new treatments available throughout this week I will put some up at a discount for the rest of the year so you can try them out.

You might be wondering, “what is gua sha?” It’s a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique using straight edge tools (stones, metal, or ox horn typically) to gently scrape across the skin with the intention of creating more flow in the body. Gua sha can be used on the face or the body. It is very versatile, and provides benefits such as clearing a pathway for lymph, pushing away blocks in the connective tissues, providing more blood flow and flexibility, among other things. I’ll be utilizing this method in many different treatments moving forward along with acupoint massage.

As I’ve used this technique for the past few months I’ve been amazed at the results achieved. Areas that would not release have melted and I am excited to utilize this modality more frequently.

What’s the deal with cupping?

Depending on if we’re doing dynamic (moving) cupping or static (non-moving) cupping you’ll get different benefits, but it always improves that lymph and blood flow and brings all the old stuff to the surface so your body can process and move on.

Ever tried dynamic cupping with your massage?

This technique done with silicone cups helps break up scar tissue, allows interstitial fluid (lymph, blood) to flow better, and provides negative pressure which helps your nervous system let go.

I use this technique as needed in any of my massages (but usually fix it).

This is why I let the client lead the conversation.

It’s important that you feel able to speak up about your needs or express what you’re feeling during your massage. So I will check in with you throughout your session and may start some small talk at the beginning, but leave it up to you if you’d like to chat or fade into oblivion.

It’s your massage. It should be comfortable and safe and exactly what you need. Whether that’s silence or chatting it up.
