Nationwide it's reported 2.4% of permit holders carry. The commitment to carry is far more difficult than most believe it to be. Training, practice and mental preparation are a never ending necessity.

The number of Americans applying and getting their firearm conceal carry permits is higher than ever before. It's been steadily increasing since states legalized their own version of standards back in the 1990's.

Use Your Head ... In the last week, I saw two separate incidents in the news regarding off-duty Chicago Police officers. In the first one, the civilian agency that investigates CPD shootings released the video of a shooting from last April.

Robert Paris, 59, of Rock Hill, was identified by the York County, South Carolina coroner as the victim in a fatal shooting at a gun range and store Thursday. Police and the coroner’s office are still investigating what police said was an accidental self-inflicted incident.
