Hello All,

My cousin and his family have made the difficult decision to rehome their family dog after a bite incident with one of their young children. If anyone is interested or has any resources on trainers or rescues who may be willing to take him, please feel free to respond to this email. Obviously they are aware it is a bit of a long shot to find the perfect fit. Below is a bit about Trapper in their words:


Trapper is a 7 year old shepherd/retriever mix with a big heart and a love for squirrel watching, frisbee/ball chasing, walks, chewing on bones, and laying outside. We are looking for a child-free home where he can be someone's loyal buddy. He is sweet, food-motivated, and loves spending time with his person. He can do well with other dogs after a slow, proper introduction, but does not do well with cats. It is necessary that he be in a child-free, adult-only home as he recently had a bite incident with our young child. A perfect home would consist of a fenced yard for squirrel-watching and frisbee, a patient adopter to give him structure, and time for play and companionship.

An adorable and one-of-a-kind donation in the name of SCKC to raise money for the Humane Society of Pikes Peak.

The very talented “Storm Sisters” Rachel, Amanda, and Jessica made these beautiful hand-made wooden boxes and with the help SCKC Secretary, Laura Griffin they were filled with toys and free training classes at our own Training Center.

These should bring in BIG Bids at the upcoming Whisker Brunch to raise money for our shelter animals this November 15th!

The Southern Colorado Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show closes this Wednesday at 11:00 am MST.

We have available at both Heart and Eye clinics for those that would like to save a little by pre-registering.

The Southern Colorado Kennel Club is excited to announce an additional Conformation drop-in class called "Conformation 2" to begin this Saturday, September 8th from 11:00-Noon with instructor Melissa Moore.

SCKC drop-ins are $10 for those that would like to sharpen their skills as a handler as well as prepare their puppies and adult dogs to succeed in the ring.

"Alert-Finish!" for my boy "Pacino"- Dal's Alley & Summit's An Offer You Can'T Refuse RN CA BCAT ACT1 ACT1J SWN SCA SIA (his nose almost always knows)! Pacino has a Scent Work Advanced title in Containers and Interior and is just one away from Exterior, and Buried (his last trial was sadly at DCA 2024).

Pacino always gives me his signature look when he wants me to know that he has found the odor!

Dalmatian Club of America volunteers were kind enough and made it possible for us to multi-task ...going the extra mile...coming to get us when the line was short...taking us straight from the Conformation ring into the Scent Work trial so we could do it all at our National...we sure appreciate you!
