❄️ Flu Season Is Here ❄️

We are seeing an increase in flu cases in our community. Influenza is more than a bad cold and can lead to serious complications, especially for older adults, children, and those with chronic conditions.

The best protection is your annual flu vaccine. It reduces your risk of illness and helps protect those around you.

If you develop fever, body aches, cough, or fatigue, seek care early. Testing and treatment are most effective when started promptly.

Stay well this season β€” prevention matters.

EARLY DETECTION MATTERS

πŸ’— 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
πŸ’— When breast cancer is found at an early, localized stage, the 5-year survival rate is 99%. (American Cancer Society, 2024)
πŸ’— Mammograms can detect cancer up to 2 years before it can be felt by you or your provider.
πŸ’— Regular screening can reduce breast cancer deaths by 30–40% in women over 40. (National Cancer Institute)
πŸ’— About 85% of breast cancers occur in women with no family history of the disease β€” meaning screening matters for everyone.

That’s why we’re passionate about prevention at Pueblo Primary Care Clinic.
Early detection gives you options, saves lives, and helps keep our community strong.

Take action this week:
βœ… Schedule your annual mammogram
βœ… Do your monthly self-breast exam
βœ… Talk to your provider about your unique risk factors

Because your health is your power β€” and early action truly makes a difference. πŸ’ͺ

πŸŽ€ Let’s Talk Mammograms πŸŽ€

We know that scheduling a mammogram can feel intimidating β€” but understanding what to expect can make it easier and less stressful.

A mammogram is a low-dose X-ray that helps detect breast changes long before they can be felt during an exam. It’s one of the most effective tools for early breast cancer detection.

πŸ’— How it works:
A technician gently compresses each breast between two plates to take detailed images. The process only takes a few minutes β€” and could save your life.

πŸ’— Radiation Risk:
Mammograms use an extremely low amount of radiation β€” about the same as a short airplane flight (roughly 0.4 mSv).
The benefits of early detection far outweigh this minimal risk.

πŸ’— When to start:
Most women should begin annual mammograms at age 40, or earlier if you have higher risk factors.

Early detection = peace of mind πŸ’•
