Yesterday, STRHS Pulaski CEO Jason Fugleberg participated in the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Day on the Hill, and met with Senator Joey Hensley to discuss key healthcare topics impacting Giles County and other rural communities across Tennessee.

Discussions from the day included Certificate of Need regulations and the Rural Hospital Transformational Fund, both of which play an important role in supporting access to care in rural areas. Ensuring that rural healthcare providers have the resources needed to serve their communities remains an important focus for systems statewide.

Engagement in events like Day on the Hill helps elevate the voice of rural healthcare and reinforces STRHS Pulaski’s commitment to strengthening access to high-quality care close to home.

Think you might have the flu? Here’s what to do to take care of yourself and protect others:

- Stay home and rest. Avoid work, school or public places. Rest helps your body fight the infection and prevents it from spreading to others.

- Monitor your symptoms. Keep track of severity, duration and any changes in symptoms like fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, headache, runny or stuffy nose.

- Hydrate and manage symptoms. Drink plenty of water or herbal tea. Over-the-counter medications can help with symptoms. Avoid alcohol and smoking.

- Seek medical care if needed. Call your healthcare provider if you experience trouble breathing, chest pain, severe weakness, confusion, persistent high fever or worsening symptoms, especially if you are pregnant, older or have chronic conditions. Early treatment can help reduce complications.

- Protect your community. Cover coughs and sneezes, wash your hands frequently and stay home until you’ve been fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication.

During American Heart Month, we recognize the vital role our Telemetry Technicians play in protecting the hearts of our patients every day. As the constant eyes on cardiac rhythms, telemetry techs provide continuous monitoring that allows for early detection of life-threatening changes and rapid clinical response. Their precision, focus, and clinical expertise support nurses and providers in delivering safe, high-quality cardiac care around the clock.

Often working behind the scenes, their attention to detail and calm under pressure make a critical difference in patient outcomes. This February, we thank our Telemetry Technicians for their dedication, vigilance, and essential contribution to patient safety and heart health across our hospital. 💙

❤️ Heart to Heart Breakfast Recap ❤️

Today, we hosted our annual Heart to Heart Breakfast, where community members learned the signs of heart attack, the importance of rapid response, what it means to be an ACC Chest Pain Accredited Center, and even practiced hands-only CPR.

Guests also received glucose and cholesterol screenings from our lab team, and The University of Tennessee Southern nursing students provided blood pressure checks and heart health risk assessments.

This week is National Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, celebrated during American Heart Month — a time to recognize the life-changing impact cardiac rehab has on patients recovering from heart events. ❤️

At Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Pulaski, our program is led by Kim Lumpkins, RN, whose dedication and one-on-one care help patients safely regain strength, confidence, and heart health after a cardiac event.

Through personalized exercise plans, education, and close monitoring, Kim works alongside each patient to support their recovery journey. Cardiac rehab isn’t just about physical healing — it’s about restoring quality of life and empowering patients to take control of their heart health.

We are incredibly grateful for the compassion and commitment Kim brings to our patients every single day.
