No. 1: They are bad for me because they are “full of starch”
No. 2: they cause “inflammation”
No. 3: they can’t be good for me because cavemen didn’t eat them
No. 4: if I let myself eat one potato, it will lead to two, three, then thirty potatoes and then I’ll be in big trouble.
No. 5: because they taste amazing topped with butter, sour cream, chili, or other fatty foods I can’t eat them, or else I will get fat. ..
THESE ARE LIES.
🥔 The truth is, potatoes are an excellent source of simple and complex carbohydrates that give my brain and body tons of really great energy. They are a vegetable, which means they carry an array of healthy nutrients like potassium, fiber, vitamin C, B vitamins and Magnesium. Even with a big helping of butter on top, I STILL get these vital nutrients. I CAN be in control of my eating. I CAN enjoy the foods I like without guilt, shame, or fear. ..
Saying the lies we’ve been told about foods out-loud can be terrifying, but healing. I encourage all of my clients to dig deep into the lies or “food rules” they have been living by so we can diminish their power. ..
What lies have you been told about the foods you like??
