People in recovery and reentry face huge, real barriers that make staying sober and rebuilding life harder than it has to be. Studies show that only a small percentage of people with a substance use disorder ever receive treatment, largely because of lack of funding and access. Many who are ready for help cannot afford care or live in areas where treatment is simply not available.
For those coming home from incarceration the challenges are even greater. Nearly 70 percent of people behind bars are there because of alcohol or drug addiction, yet most do not receive treatment while incarcerated. Without support, roughly 80 percent will return to prison within a year because the underlying issues were never addressed. Stable housing, employment, transportation, childcare, and access to healthcare are all barriers that can push someone back toward use instead of forward into lasting recovery.
These statistics are not just numbers. They are real lives that need real support. This is exactly why the ARCHway Institute stands in that gap. We work to remove barriers by providing financial assistance, information, advocacy, and connection to evidence‑based treatment. We support families, help communities understand addiction, and give individuals the tools and resources they need to thrive, not just survive.
If you believe that barriers to recovery and reentry should not stand between someone and their second chance, please consider supporting this work. Your donation helps provide recovery scholarships, remove financial obstacles to treatment, and expand access to vital services for people ready to change their lives.
