Thank you to the Leadership Charlotte Class of 2022 for your generous donation to create a Sensory Room on our Crisis Unit. This thoughtfully designed space offers a safe, calming, and therapeutic environment where individuals can regulate emotions, reduce distress, and build essential coping skills during acute mental health episodes.

Our maintenance team may be small, but they consistently deliver big results. Over the past several months, they’ve taken on major projects like the Selby House improvements, worked through complex kitchen repairs without disrupting meals, and supported the ongoing CRF expansion, all while continuing to meet the day-to-day needs of the entire agency.

On top of that, they tackled a long-overdue project and successfully cleaned out the maintenance building, organizing years’ worth of accumulated items, no small feat.

They’ve stepped up during staffing gaps, jumped in to support custodial on many occasions, and kept things moving. Simply put, if something needs to get done, they find a way to make it happen.

The work they do is not only physically demanding, but also requires constant coordination, shifting priorities, and problem-solving. Many of these tasks are not the most pleasant, yet they continue to show up and get the job done.

We recently hosted our Bring Your Child to Work Day and it was a blast! With 13 kids in attendance, the day was filled with energy, curiosity, and plenty of smiles.

They toured our new expansion and spent time with program leaders through a variety of fun, hands-on activities. By the end of the day, we had future cooks, therapists, case managers, and IT leaders in the making!

Welcome Home, Artemis II!

As the crew of Artemis II safely returns to Earth, their journey reminds us of something powerful:

No matter how far you go…
coming home matters.

At CBHC, “coming home” can look different for everyone.
For some, it’s finding stability after a difficult season.
For others, it’s taking that first step toward recovery, healing, or asking for help.

The journey isn’t always easy. There are moments of uncertainty, distance, and challenge. But with the right support, guidance, and belief — a safe return is always possible.

In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, CBHC team members joined together for a Pinwheels for Prevention planting at the Family Services Center. The pinwheel represents the bright, healthy futures every child deserves and serves as a meaningful reminder of the role we all play in supporting children and families in our community.
