Ronald Edward Marshall, Jr., 70, of Mahaffey, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026 at his home.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tom Brink officiating, at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street, Mahaffey, PA 15757.

Nina E. Smathers, 91, of DuBois, formerly of Mahaffey, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

She was born April 30, 1934 to Ellwood and Grace (Geist) Yount in Mayport, Jefferson County.

Nina was a member of Mount Carmel Church, Mahaffey. She loved taking care of her vegetable and flower gardens with her beautiful peonies, gladiolas and rhododendron. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the birds enjoy one of her many feeders outside her windows. She loved to cook for her family and worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy and fed every day. She was a very kind, compassionate woman who listened patiently to everyone but never wanted the spotlight herself.

Nina is survived by two daughters and a son; Beverly A. Hook and husband Bill, Pittsburgh, Joseph L. Smathers and wife Suzanne, Mahaffey and Patricia D. Conrad and husband Keith, Pittsburgh, six grandchildren; Stephanie D. Hook and husband Jim Yauger, Steven W. Hook and wife Stephanie E., Jacob D. Smathers and wife Teia, Melissa J. Wical and husband Justin, Jocelyn G. Russo and husband Vincent, and Joel A. Conrad and wife Ashley, eight great-grandchildren, a brother, William Yount and wife Ruby, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roscoe C. (Jake) Smathers in 2022, her siblings including infants Harry and Annabelle, Bertha Dinger, Norma Burns, Louise Vasbinder, Darl Yount, Harold Yount, Glenn Yount and Clair Yount.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market St. Mahaffey, PA 15757 and on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Church, 3023 Clover Run Road, Mahaffey, PA 15757 with Pastor Brian Barrett officiating.

Interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Rose Ann Fallara, 91, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at The Gardens at DuBois.

She was born October 19, 1934 to Frank and Jessie (Carlino) Palmerino in Punxsutawney.

Rose Ann was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church in Punxsutawney. She was a 1952 graduate of Saints Cosmas and Damian High School and St. Vincent College, where she received a degree as a Registered Nurse. She devoted her life with affection and compassion to the service of taking care of others. She worked at the Pennsylvania State Department of Health as a state health nurse for over 30 years before her retirement. She enjoyed crossword and jig saw puzzles, playing UNO and she loved caring for her family and friends.

She is survived by four sons; Anthony, Michael and wife Patti, Greg (Brenda), all of Punxsutawney, and Ron and wife Jan, Homer City, eight grandchildren; Erin (Garry) Davey, Angela (Mike) Fairman, Eric Fallara (Dee Dee Moore), Nicholas (Heidi) Fallara, Andrew Fallara, Christopher (Jaclyn) Fallara, Jessica Fallara and Jason (Kelly) Fallara, nine great grandchildren, a son-in-law, Doyle Powell, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Powell, daughter-in-law, Mary Fallara, five brothers; James and Alfred (twins), Anthony, Frank, and Michael Palmerino, and six sisters; Diane Serge, Lucy Ivens, Adelaide Palmerino, Marguerite DeLuca, Mary Jane Guignet and Jo Coats.

Rose Ann was the last surviving sibling of her family.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4-7 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, 616 West Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767 with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo, Celebrant.

Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.

Mary L. Lee, 100, of Trafford, PA, passed away on December 29, 2025 at William Penn Care Center in Jeannette, PA.

Mary was born on August 9, 1925 in Ebensburg to the late Edward and Grace I. (Smith) Harvey.

She was the wife of Russell C. Lee and together they raised three children. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She loved spending time with her growing family - her children, grandchildren and later her great grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her son Harvey B. Lee (Paula) of Levelgreen, PA, and daughter, Grace I. Fedele (Joseph) of Irwin, PA, son-in-law, Stephen Koss of Butler, seven grandchildren; Stephanie, Christopher, Michelle, Becky, Jeffrey, Jason and Christa and nineteen great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, (2000) and a daughter, Janice Koss.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm Monday, January 5, 2026 at Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street, Mahaffey, PA 15767 with Pastor James Hurd officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Mahaffey.

Robert James “Bob” Sunderland, 84, of Mahaffey, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at his home.

He was born July 29, 1941 to William T. and Bessie R. (Lee) Sunderland.

Bob attended the Mahaffey High School and graduated in 1960 from Purchase Line High School. He worked for Readers Digest in White Plains NY for over 20 years before his retirement. Bob attended Banner Ridge Church and he was a member of the Deer Run Rod and Gun Club. Bob was avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking.

He is survived by eight siblings; Mary Pennington, Mahaffey, Shirley Sunderland, DuBois, Nancy DeYoung, Lewistown, Evelyn Slonaker and husband Isaiah, Zionsville, Janet Irvin and husband John, Homer City, Linda Hester, Salt Lake City, UT, Judy Stewart and husband Kurt, Lewistown, and Roger Sunderland, Mahaffey and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Christopher Sunderland, two sisters; Surilla Leamer and Catherine Snow, a brother, Thomas Sunderland and a nephew, Ronald Pennington.

Friends will be received at Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street, Mahaffey, PA 15757 on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 5-7 PM and on Monday January 5, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM with Pastor James Hurd officiating.
