Pastor Arthur Blair Hugill

Pastor Arthur Blair Hugill, 93, of Mahaffey, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Penn Highlands Hospital in DuBois, PA.

He was born January 2, 1933 to Arthur Blair and Jennie Almeda (Ferguson) Hugill in Spangler.

Pastor Hugill was a man of unwavering faith, tireless industry and a profound “Heart of God”. He left a legacy that spanned 57 years of ministry and several decades of entrepreneurship. Arthur’s journey of service began alongside his devoted wife Nancy, at Kinport Assembly of God, where they served as youth leaders. After serving as caretakers at Living Waters Campground, Arthur followed a calling to Mahaffey, Pennsylvania in 1969. There he established the church on Main Street, beginning a 57-year duration as the faithful Pastor of Calvary Chapel Church.

A visionary builder, Pastor Hugill was the driving force behind numerous spiritual landmarks. In 1970 he held the very first camp meeting in Belsano, PA and in 1971 he answered the call to build a dedicated campground for God’s kingdom. He built the new Calvary Chapel Church, a dining hall and many dorms. In 1973 he founded Mount Calvary Bible School, later expanding his educational mission with the Calvary ACE Christian School. Throughout his life, Arthur served numerous churches across the state of Pennsylvania. One of his greatest joys was the summer tradition of taking the gospel tent on the road, reaching people wherever they were. With a global heart, his mission field knew no borders. Pastor Hugill’s mountain moving faith led him to lead major projects in Cuba, Africa, Dominican Republic, Philippines, Haiti, Mexico and many other countries and missionaries. His work provided essential infrastructure such as churches, schools, and water wells and provided life changing support for orphanages.

In 1961, his industrious spirit and belief in the dignity of hard work led him to found Hugill Sanitation, a business that has become a staple throughout various communities. His entrepreneurial spirit also saw him successfully operate a septic business, a gas and service station and a used car dealership. Arthur balanced his business ventures with his ministry, using his success to further his work for the Lord.

Pastor Hugill will be remembered as a man who built, not just buildings and businesses, but lives and communities. He leaves behind a legacy of service that reached from the streets of Mahaffey to the far corners of the globe. He was a man after God’s Heart.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nancy Jane (Kitchen) Hugill, Mahaffey, four children; two sons, Thomas B. Hugill and wife Pamela, VA and Edward E. Hugill and wife Trudy, Mahaffey, and two daughters, Deborah K. McLaughlin and husband Vance and Wanda Hugill both of Mahaffey, ten grandchildren; William Hugill, Jr., Jonathan Hugill, Karen Norman, Amanda Brady, Eddie Hugill, Matthew Hugill, Tony Hugill, Corissa Baker, Ashley Struble, and Stephanie Schneider, 29 great grandchildren, a sister, Shirley Demelio, and a daughter-in-law Gail M. Hugill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons; (infant) Arthur Hugill, (infant) Buddy Hugill, and William A. Hugill, two brothers; James R. Hugill and John C. Hugill and a great granddaughter, Ella Grace Hugill.

Friends will be received on Friday from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Saturday, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Calvary Chapel Church, 19 Chapel Campground Lane, Mahaffey, PA 15757.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Chapel Church, (Missions Fund), 19 Chapel Campground Lane, Mahaffey, PA 15757.

The family of Pastor Arthur Hugill is being cared for by the Waldron Funeral Home of Mahaffey.
