Put-In-Bay EMS

Put-In-Bay EMS Put-in-Bay Township Emergency Medical Services has been a leader in Advanced Life Support since 1977 We have three ambulances and one quick response unit.

Put-in-Bay Emergency Medical Services has been a leader in Advanced Life Support since 1977. Put-in-Bay Township has partnered with Mercy Health Services to provide EMS services to Put-in-Bay and eight other Erie islands. We are staffed year round and are equipped with the most modern Advanced Life Support equipment and medications. During the busy summer months, our part time staff travel from around the state to provide coverage to PIB on a daily basis, and Middle Bass Island on weekends. In the off season, services are provided by a full time paramedic and volunteer EMT staff consisting of island residents. Our team averages 450 calls per year. Calls to other islands and water rescues are handled in conjunction with the Put-in-Bay Village Harbor Patrol and Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department. Put-in-Bay EMS has an on-site, fully equipped training center and offers CPR training to the general public. We house two patient care rooms to provide ongoing care in case of inclement weather. We also provide several community services such as weekly blood pressure checks and lab draws for those needing bloodwork. Darrell Long, Manager

🎶🚑 This month was Mixtape March: 80's Edition at Put-in-Bay EMS 🚑🎶

Over the past month, our crew took part in 7 trainings, each ending with a challenge to test their skills, knowledge, and decision-making. Every night, one standout performer took home a Golden Mixtape Award 🏆

Even in the virtual world, the Middle Bass crew dominated, taking home 4 out of 7 wins 👏

To top it all off, Bree Reynolds earned the ultimate upgrade—The Golden CD 💿—for attending all 7 trainings and showing incredible dedication throughout the month.

We’re proud of everyone who participated, pushed themselves, and made this such a fun and competitive training series.

Check out the pics of our winners and their awards below! 👇

Thanks to the amazing support from our community, proceeds from our Men of the Bass Islands calendar are already being put to work!
We recently used funds to purchase a childbirth simulation trainer, helping our crews stay prepared for critical emergencies.
Here are Bree Reynolds and Nate Jones getting hands-on practice—because your support helps us train, improve, and provide the best care possible.
Thank you for investing in our team and our community 💙

🚑 EMR vs EMT: The Assessment Showdown
Tonight, the clipboards changed hands.
Over the past few months, our EMTs dedicated their time helping our EMR students through labs and hands-on training. They showed up, they coached, they mentored.
Last night, the EMRs returned the favor — proctoring live patient assessment scenarios while the EMTs stepped into the hot seat.
No hints. No rescue. Just real critical thinking under pressure.
And they absolutely killed it — which is exactly why their awards had names like:
🩺 Clinical Assassin
🩸 Hemorrhage Hitman
🚑 Scene Slayer
💨 Airway Executioner
⚡ Shock Sniper
Proud of this crew and the culture we’re building!

Last night’s trauma training brought the realism — and the teamwork.
Our EMTs and EMRs responded to a simulated officer-involved shooting and motor vehicle crash. A huge thank you to PIB PD officers Gary Allred and Jason Simon for being our "patients." Your participation made this invaluable for our staff! We also want to thank our new Police Chief, Mike Dillon for supporting collaboration between our departments. Partnerships like this strengthen the entire community!
Bree Reynolds , Nate Jones, Anne Auger, Andy Burns, Ashley Marie Mann, Noah Kneisley, John Domer and Greg Auger...you were rock stars!

Congratulations to our EMR class!
After 60 hours of classroom and lab time, they successfully passed their final exam and skills testing with flying colors. These students mastered critical skills including airway management, bleeding control, shock management, CPR, splinting, patient assessment, and childbirth. Their dedication—both in class and on their own time—truly showed. We couldn’t be more proud of this group!
🚑 A graduation ceremony will be held in the spring...stay tuned! 🚑
