Thank you to the Putnam Rotary Interact Club for supporting Caitlyn’s Cupboard, DKH’s Oncology Food Pantry!

During the Great Pumpkin Festival, the club collected donations and several bags of nonperishable food to help local cancer patients access nutritious meals. Their generosity and dedication to addressing food insecurity, especially for those in our community who are fighting cancer, are truly inspiring.

Caitlyn’s Cupboard was established in 2020 to provide patients with access to healthy, nutritious foods that promote strength, healing, and the best possible response during treatment.

We’re so grateful to these young Rotarians for their compassion, leadership, and service to others. They are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and the overall health of our community.

Happy Halloween from your friends at DKH! Here are a few tips to help keep your pumpkins, witches, and skeletons safe this Halloween:
🎃 Plan a safe route - go only into familiar neighborhoods, and stop only at houses that are well-lit.
👻 Carry flashlights and use reflective tape on clothing and bags.
🧙‍♀️ Treats look suspicious? When in doubt, throw them out.
🎃 Put electronic devices down, keep your heads up, and walk, don’t run, across the street.

Last week, our Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Connecticut team hosted its annual Celebration of Life Candlelight Ceremony at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Danielson.

This special evening honored the memories of those cared for by our hospice program over the past year, bringing together families, friends, and hospice staff for a time of remembrance, reflection, and healing.

The ceremony featured moving music, heartfelt messages from hospice staff, and the lighting of candles in tribute to loved ones who have passed. Afterward, guests gathered to share stories, refreshments, and moments of connection.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Reverend Yana Cruz-Pagan, the Killingly High School Concert Choir and their director Jason Largent, Chubby Dog Coffee Co., Lapsley Orchards, Putnam Stop & Shop, and our incredible Hospice Volunteers and staff for helping make this meaningful evening possible.

Home health care is a lifeline for so many in our community. Earlier this week, we welcomed Congressman Joe Courtney for a discussion on how proposed Medicare cuts could impact access to these essential services. Our DKH at Home team, along with representatives from the Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home and Aveanna Healthcare, shared how these changes could impact patients and families across northeastern Connecticut. We’re grateful for Congressman Courtney’s continued advocacy to protect access to quality care for those who need it most.
