Our hearts are heavy this week as another member of our community was lost. The impact of our lost community members cannot be understated. We welcome you today to take moments of silence as you prepare for your day to honor Renee Good. She lived her life in support of her community and neighbors, sharing love and healing. In the wake of her death, we invite you to remember the strategy that has moved us through our histories of overcoming systemic and infectious crises.
Protect time in your daily routine to allow for emotional processing and acknowledgement of what is at stake on the hard side. Spend your motivation creating and protecting a more connected and safer future for our community. Reward your hard day's work each day with quality time and connection. Our nervous systems require reminders of the good side of what is at stake.
Then rest, rinse, repeat. This daily strategy has proven effective for the resilience of our community. We present it here as the "Q***r Agenda."
Dan Savage quote: “During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis, we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for. It didn’t look like we were going to win then and we did. It doesn’t feel like we’re going to win now but we could. Keep fighting, keep dancing.”
