To all my union brothers, sisters, friends and family who call Washington home and are registered voters I wanna remind you to call 1 800 562 6000 and voice your support for senate bill 5698 and house bill 1817 . This number is a general number for voters to call with comments and someone on the line should be able to help you figure out your personal legislator based on your address and let you know how to get in touch with your own legislator. Please take this extra step it is important that we flood legislators from all over the state with our calls . Ask them to support these bills .Help them to understand why they're important for the safety of Washington workers. Share some of the advantages and benefits we enjoy thanks to the apprenticeship we came up thru. These are the main selling points of the bill . A better skilled tradesman who is regularly trained in safety and has learned his specific trade thru an approved curriculum . This requirement for all refinery workers to go through an apprenticeship will help create a safer work environment for Washington workers , it will hopefully make refineries better neighbors to the communities there in, and it will create career opportunities for thousands of workers who can learn a highly skilled trade without having to go into student debt . This bill should have every union member in Washington bouncing off the walls with excitement just wondering what can I do to help this process ? Make sure to make those two calls at the very least, getting in touch with your own legislator is very important.
