To change our world for the better, we need to live in a trauma informed society. I have always believed that, and this is why I became a CranioSacral therapist. It is also why I am increasingly working with babies!

Watch The Wisdom of Trauma Movie on October 4-10, Featuring DR. GABOR MATÉ Plus The Trauma Talks Series, Part II, a 5-day teaching series on trauma with leading experts!

I received this text a few days ago from one of my long time client.

"Good morning Isabelle! Wanted you to know ... last fall when you treated my niece Marie, one of the things you said was that she has/may have a lesion on her duodenum. Sure enough! Just confirmed today by a scope. But - you already knew that. Another hit over the fence by Isabelle! We love you. 💛"

You may wonder how I do it? Here it is, as best as I can explain it. My gift is to be able to listen with neutrality to the body tissues. My hands (my whole being actually) scans the body, which is another way to say that I "listen" to it.

She was complaining from pain in the area, and combining my own skills with the visceral manipulation techniques I learned, I found that her pain was coming from a possible ulcer in her duodenum, and not from the other organs from the painful area: gallbladder, liver, stomach, pancreas or colon. Thus, leading to a possible diagnosis which was confirmed later through an endoscopy.

I received this text a few days ago from the mom of one of the babies I treated recently.

“ I wanted to let you know how grateful I am in what you did for Regan and her mouth!!! I truly believe you are the main reason I was able to continue nursing her; you fixed or helped whatever it was that needed to happen!!!! I have spread the word about your gift!”

I am so blessed to work with babies, almost every day now!

It is a fairly long article but the information is worth reading as it is evidence based. It will hopefully make you feel safer about getting out of confinement.

Please read this link to learn about the author and background to these posts. It seems many people are breathing some relief, and I’m not sure why. My day is always made good when I‘m honored to help a baby feel better, especially after a rough birth. This funny story (reposted from a friend’s page) is for all you midwives, doulas, moms and babies out there. Wait, that’s all of us! I hope you get a laugh!

‘The Middle Wife'

by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher

“I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back.

When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome.

Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater.

She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday.'

'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord.'

She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.

'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts going, 'Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. 'She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.)

'My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.' (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.)

'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away. It was too much!)'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe.

They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center, so there must be a lot of toys inside there. When he got out, the middle wife spanked him for crawling up in there in the first place.'

Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat.

I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's Show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, just in case another 'Middle Wife' comes along.”

With the recent announcement from Governor Inslee regarding the "Shelter in Place', I wanted to let you know that my CranioSacral therapy services are still available to you, and that my practice is opened during normal business hours.

Governor Inslee, the Washington State Chiropractic Association, and the Washington State Physical Therapy Association have reiterated that chiropractic care, physical therapy and medical massage (which include CranioSacral therapy) are essential healthcare services, especially for patients looking for non-opioid pain management and those that are generally healthy but under high levels of stress and anxiety.

If you do not feel comfortable coming to one of my offices and would like to receive some help, I offer sessions over the phone so you can handle better the stress and anxiety caused by these unprecedented times. Please call me for more information at (253) 221-7374.

Isabelle Dalton CranioSacral Therapy is open and will continue to see patients during normal business hours.

Governor Inslee, the Washington State Chiropractic Association, and the Washington State Physical Therapy Association have stated that chiropractic care, physical therapy and medical massage (which include CranioSacral therapy) are essential healthcare services, especially for patients looking for non-opioid pain management and those that are generally healthy but under high levels of stress and anxiety.

CranioSacral therapy can substantially decrease the level of stress/anxiety and strengthen the immune system. Patients with health issues and pain usually see a decrease of their symptoms. I stay open to contribute to the global effort of my fellow non-emergency health care practitioners to decrease the pressure on the hospital/emergency system and our dedicated emergency health care personnel. Without CST services, patients with anxiety, stress, health issues other than COVID-19, or with neuromusculoskeletal symptoms will further burden hospitals and urgent care centers. We have a role to play in keeping our community healthy.

Despite these uncertain times, I assure you that I am here for you. Every patient will be screened prior to their appointment to ensure they are free of COVID-19 symptoms and they have not been in contact directly or not, that they know of, with COVID-19. I ask that you wash your hands as you arrive for your appointment. I take your health very seriously and I am following all recommendations to make sure both my offices are a safe place for you to receive treatment. Door handles, phone, speaker, switches, counters, pens and other surfaces are being wiped down following each patient. I observe all safe practices inside the office and in my personal life to keep you safe and healthy.

If you do not feel comfortable coming to one of my offices and would like to receive some help, I offer sessions over the phone so you can handle better the stress and anxiety caused by these unprecedented times. Please call me for more information at (253) 221-7374.

Lastly, stay safe. We know these times are stressful for many. Decreasing stress is essential. Exercise, meditate, read, dance, listen to music, do your favorite hobby, cook healthy, go for walks (with social distancing) and get in the sunshine when you can safely do it (free Vitamin D!). Do what you can to increase your well-being, and keep your spirits up. I appreciate your trust in me. If you have any questions do not hesitate to give me a call.

Yours in Health,

Isabelle

Hello Esteemed Clients,

I hope you are doing well during these unprecedented times. I wanted to take a moment to talk about COVID-19 and how I am addressing it in my business. There is no need to panic but we need to be aware of the situation and help contain the outbreak. We all have family members and friends who are known more medically at risk and need our consideration during this time. Please help protect them by being more cautious with our surroundings and interactions with others. If anyone is having anxiety over the outbreak, I found this article helpful:

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/03/03/811656226/pandemic-panic-these-5-tips-can-help-you-regain-your-calm

First off, I do believe that good therapy is helpful and needed in times of global and cultural distress, for the physical benefits as well as to offer some contact and relief for the isolation that can occur during such radical shifts happening around us. To that end, I will be continuing to see clients in both Puyallup and Bonney Lake and would like to share with you some of the practices I use to ensure your safety while in my treatment space.

First and foremost, we haven't allowed any patients with cold/flu like symptoms at the Puyallup Wellness Center and at my Bonney Lake location. We will continue to do so until the outbreak is contained.

• I always employ thorough and good handwashing before and after every client session.
• Each client has a clean pillow case to lie on. The blanket is washed daily.
• All touched surfaces like door handles, light switches, cell phone, pens, files, and contact areas are disinfected several times a day or between sessions.

As a precaution, for the next few weeks, I will ask you to please wash your hands or use sanitizer upon your arrival. There is sanitizer at the front desk of the clinic and at my Bonney Lake location.

Right now, I am feeling healthy and positive! I don’t believe that I have been exposed and I am practicing social distancing in public places, which I avoid as much as possible. If I am not feeling well, I will inform you and offer the choice to keep your appointment. Needless to say, if I am running a fever or have cold symptoms, I will cancel.

If you begin to experience any cold or flu like symptoms, please don’t hesitate to let me know so that we can reschedule your appointment. There will be no charge for cancelling if you are sick, feeling you might be sick, or someone within your household is sick while COVID-19 is active.

Give in to fear will increase your stress level and compromise your immune system. Please continue to get good rest, eat well, exercise, and take some mindfulness time to contact nature and the life within us. As you all know, CranioSacral therapy is helpful at decreasing stress! If you would like to see me but can’t schedule at this time, sessions on the phone are offered at a discounted price of $100 for an hour.

Our collective health, healing, and well-being is important to me and I look forward to continuing to assisting you as we move forward together. Thank you for joining me in doing your best to protect and care for each other. Please let me know if you have questions.

Please share your funniest memes and pics about COVID-19 because laughter strengthens your immune system!
