Our residents had so much fun getting a little messy (in the best way!) creating beautiful Easter decorations using the shaving cream paint squeegee technique. Each piece turned out completely unique—just like the artists behind them!

Today, Jennifer, our amazing Activities Coordinator, made her way around the community, knocking on doors and brightening days with healthy cookies and a cup of delicious milk. It was more than just a simple treat—it was a moment of connection, comfort, and care.

In assisted living and memory care, these small, thoughtful visits mean everything. A friendly face, a warm conversation, and a little extra attention can lift spirits, reduce feelings of loneliness, and remind our residents that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Moments like these truly make a difference—and today was filled with plenty of smiles to prove it.

✨ Employee Spotlight: Irene ✨

We are so proud to shine a light on Irene and her incredible journey with us! 💙

Irene began her career on September 12, 2017, back when our community was still part of Brookdale. What makes her story even more special is how it all started—she was simply walking by, saw the building, and decided to apply. That moment changed everything. It became her very first job here in the United States, and she was hired on the spot.

From day one, Irene embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. She built her caregiving skills right here, dedicating herself to our residents with compassion and heart. When our community transitioned into what we now know as The Rivers at Puyallup, Irene continued to be a steady and caring presence.

In May 2023, when our Memory Care neighborhood—Connections—opened, Irene was one of the first chosen to step into this important role. She rose to the challenge, becoming a Medication Aide and providing specialized care for our seniors living with dementia.

Today, Irene continues to flourish. She has grown into a confident, dependable, and deeply compassionate caregiver who makes a difference every single day. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that with courage, dedication, and heart, anything is possible.

Zumba with Dixie is always a highlight at The Rivers at Puyallup, bringing energy, connection, and joy to our community. Music and movement play a powerful role in supporting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of older adults, and it’s easy to see the impact each time Dixie visits.

With her twice-monthly sessions, residents and staff look forward to the chance to move, laugh, and stay active together. Our wonderful Activities team showed up in full force last Friday, helping make this our biggest Zumba turnout yet. The room was filled with smiles, shared moments, and a sense of togetherness that lifted everyone’s spirits.

Today, our residents gathered to celebrate all of our March birthday celebrants. The room was filled with smiles, music, laughter, and sweet treats. It was a beautiful time of reminiscing, connection, and joy—reminding us all how meaningful it is to feel seen, valued, and celebrated at every stage of life.

The ladies of The Rivers at Puyallup enjoyed a fun and educational afternoon exploring the Fife History Museum! From fascinating local artifacts to stories that bring the past to life, every corner of the museum offered something meaningful to discover.
We also learned that the Fife Historical Society is part of the North American Reciprocal Museum Association (NARM), an incredible network connecting over 1,300 cultural institutions across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and beyond. This means one membership opens the door to art, history, science, botanical gardens, and so much more!
It was a wonderful day filled with learning, laughter, and appreciation for the rich history around us. 💛

Our residents had a blast creating tie-dye bandannas, headbands, hats, and scarves to wear for a very exciting moment coming up. This Friday, FOX 13 Seattle will be visiting The Rivers to film our Zumba class, and we thought it was the perfect reason to make some fun spirit gear!

Now we’re ready to dance in style and show off our colorful community energy. We can’t wait for Friday! 💃🕺
