Crossroads Elder Advocacy Solutions and Services was born of my passion for helping older adults and their families with the daunting task of finding the right resources in a time of critical need. I recently changed from a for profit to non profit to be able to help more people . WHAT: My services include CONSULTATION, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, and RESOURCES for families searching for the right situation—in home care, independent living, assisted living, and nursing home care—along with the accompanying financial, legal, or personal care services you may need for your loved one. HOW: Because every family’s situation is unique, every process begins with careful LISTENING to the needs and concerns of the elder and their family care partner(s), along with an understanding of the underlying emotions and family dynamics. After a thorough assessment, I RESEARCH and recommend a variety of RESOURCES and SOLUTIONS tailored to your requirements, and I help you prioritize them according to their urgency. WHY: I have navigated these waters personally and professionally I understand the doubt, the denial, and frustration that come with the role reversal you may be experiencing now with your aging parent. More importantly, you can count on my professional skills and integrity, built though a successful career in the legal field as a paralegal, the insurance industry, non-profits and state agencies I am able to listen, gather and analyze information, and help you plan and organize the resources you need. We have a responsibility to care for our aging parents and or loved ones, just as they cared for us. It is an emotional transition, for both the care partner and the parent or loved ones. It is a role reversal that can be difficult and misunderstood. It’s time consuming for us as care partners, especially if we are working fulltime. If you use electric medical devices or assistive technology, do you have emergency plans in case of a power outage? This may include motorized wheelchairs, communications assistive devices, oxygen machines and more.

Talk with your health care provider about what to do in case of emergencies. Ask if your device can be powered by batteries or inquire about generator power. Inform local authorities in advance to let them know you should be on the priority list for power restoration.
