Today we are exploring a game as a PT tool when used with intention. We started in sitting with the game turned off to explore positioning, reach, and spatial awareness. As the challenge increased, we turned the game on so the cows rotated, then added a peanut ball for weight bearing and postural demand.
What we’re working on:
* Head and trunk control during seated and supported weight-bearing positions
* Eye-hand coordination and visual tracking
* Motor planning and timing to capture and retrieve the cows
* Spatial awareness (judging distance, reach, and body-to-object relationship)
* Dissociation and separation of body parts (neck, head, arm)
* Upper-extremity strengthening and endurance
What we observed:
* Increased fatigue after 1–2 repetitions, with reliance on one hand for support
* Difficulty coordinating capturing the cow and then retrieving it with the hand smoothly
* In sitting, challenges with judging distance and deciding whether to move the body or adjust the toy to make contact. Tell us what you think about this toy! Yay or nay?
