National Chili Day, observed annually on the fourth Thursday in February, commemorates the widespread popularity of chili, a beloved winter staple in American cuisine, also known as chili con carne. In the Spanish language, 'chili' translates to 'chili pepper,' whereas 'carne' means 'meat.' A traditional chili recipe typically comprises a combination of tomatoes, beans, chili peppers, meat, garlic, onions, and cumin, although the dish's versatility has led to numerous variations, making it a popular entry in culinary competitions. The Warren County Sheriff's Department participated in a chili-tasting event as our Judges, with the following members present: Captain Al Maday, Lt. Wayne Farmer, Sheriff Jim LaFarr, Undersheriff Terry Comeau, Patrol Officer Casey Gordon, and Communications Supervisor Derrick Helms. The winners of the event were: Izzy Moffitt Night Cook in first place, Jessica Hitchcock Administrator in second place, and Ashiel & Jayr Physical Therapists in third place. We extend our gratitude to the Warren County Sheriff's Department for serving as judges, Round Heart String Musicians for their musical performance, and our staff for preparing exceptional chili. Additionally, we appreciate the delicious cornbread and acknowledge the attendance of patients, residents, and family members.

The Warren Center's Chinese New Year Luncheon was a resounding success among attendees. According to Chinese astrology, individuals born under the Horse sign demonstrate confidence, agreeableness, and responsibility, while tending to resist constraint. Notably, they possess physical and mental agility, coupled with a propensity for decisive action, although they can also be easily influenced and impatient. We extend our sincere gratitude to Chopsticks Restaurant for their exceptional service on their holiday. Thank you, Hong, we truly appreciate your efforts.

On Presidents' Day, we radiate joy in celebrating the delectable dishes cherished by some of our nation's most visionary leaders. We're filled with gratitude for every participant's zeal and overjoyed to have been part of this extraordinary celebration. The tribute was phenomenally successful, highlighted by Calvin Coolidge's enduring love for apple pie and Ronald Reagan's legendary jellybeans. We gleaned invaluable insights into the historical importance of our presidents through captivating trivia and enlightening facts. Your presence ignited a spark that made this occasion genuinely unforgettable and inspiring. We eagerly await the return of our beloved entertainers Top Hat Entertainment, wishing them a speedy recovery, and we look forward to reuniting next Presidents' Day.
