Cannabis Awareness: What You Should Know
I’m seeing more and more patients who truly don’t realize how much cannabis can impact the body and brain—especially with regular use.
This isn’t about fear. It’s about informed decisions.
Brain effects can include:
• Memory and focus issues
• Increased anxiety, panic, and paranoia
• Slower reaction time
• Mood changes, depression, and even psychosis (especially with higher dosing)
Body effects matter too:
• Increased heart rate + cardiovascular strain
• Hormonal disruption (fertility, thyroid, cortisol)
• Lung irritation (smoking/vaping)
• Withdrawal symptoms like irritability, poor sleep, and appetite changes
⚠️ A few important truths:
• 3 out of 10 users develop a cannabis use disorder
• The brain is still developing until ~25 → higher risk in younger users
• Use during pregnancy increases risk of complications
• Long-term use is linked to increased risk of psychosis
Not all cannabis is created equal.
Home-grown or clean-sourced cannabis is often a better option than highly processed products—but many dispensary and street products can contain pesticides, solvents, or other additives people don’t realize they’re being exposed to.
This isn’t about saying “never use it.”
It’s about understanding how, how often, and what type you’re using—and how it may be affecting your body.
If you’re dealing with fatigue, anxiety, hormone issues, poor sleep, or brain fog… cannabis could be playing a bigger role than you think.
We look at the root cause. Always. 🌿
