Mark your calendars to see our own Vicki Dempsey in Steel Magnolias!
We’re delighted to announce the cast of STEEL MAGNOLIAS, written by Robert Harling, running March 26–29 in our intimate Black Box Theatre.
Inspired by Harling’s own experiences, this witty, heartfelt classic invites us into Truvy’s hair salon, where six women face life’s highs and lows with sharp humor, deep love, and undeniable strength. Our powerhouse ensemble features Sara Courtney as Annelle, Melinda Higgins as Truvy, Susan Scholz as Clairee, Vicki Dempsey as Ouiser, Crystal Perry as M’Lynn, and Char Cearlock as Shelby. Valerie Hernandez directs, with Jen Shackleton serving as Stage Manager.
“Combining the intimacy of the Black Box space and the very personal proximity of performing in-the-round, this production of STEEL MAGNOLIAS brings the audience right into Truvy’s salon, going on and going through ups and downs, sweetness, hilarity, sorrow, and hope, making them part of this wonderful circle of friends,” says Director Valerie Hernandez. “If you’re a fan of the 1980s classic film, having seen it doesn’t lessen the impact of the play. The amazing actresses in this company step out of the long shadows cast by the movie’s stars and make the roles their own, surprising and endearing the audience to these well-loved, well-known characters all over again. A true ensemble show that highlights the strength women find and cultivate in one another, STEEL MAGNOLIAS is for the Shelbys and the Steves and everyone in between! Bring your tissues and your friends, you don’t want to miss this show!”
STEEL MAGNOLIAS kicks off our brand-new Black Box Series. Series ticket holders may reserve seats now, and tickets go on sale to the public February 17 at 1QCT.org.
