💙 Expanding access to care in our community. Plumas District Hospital has received a Ford T350 AWD wheelchair-accessible van thanks to an incredible $96,216.48 donation made possible through proceeds from the Bargain Boutique and the PDH Volunteers. This new van will support non-emergent medical transportation, helping patients who are unable to use public or private transportation safely get to and from medical appointments. This meaningful addition helps remove barriers to care and ensures more members of our community can access the healthcare services they need.

👏 Thank you to the PDH Volunteers for their continued dedication, and to everyone in our community who supports the Bargain Boutique and helps make initiatives like this possible!

Please join us in congratulating Kristie Rood, LCSW, with our Senior Life Solutions program, for being named 2025 Program Therapist of the Year by Psychiatric Medical Care — a national organization partnering with more than 250 hospitals and health systems. Kristie was recognized for her outstanding patient care, commitment to excellence, and meaningful community engagement. 💙

“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition for the work that I truly feel blessed to be able to do,” said Kristie. “This award reflects the courage of each of my patients who trust me to do this work with them and the amazing professionals I have had the pleasure to work with.”

Plumas District Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions program supports individuals (typically age 65+) experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and other mental health challenges associated with aging — helping patients improve quality of life through compassionate, specialized care.

We are excited to share that one of our Behavioral Health providers now offers Pet-Assisted Therapy during clinic visits in our RHC. Wonder began seeing patients in early January and provides a calm, comforting presence to help reduce stress, improve mood, and support emotional well-being. While she isn’t a service dog, Wonder has an intuitive way of helping anxious patients—often offering gentle pressure or resting her head in their lap to help them feel grounded.

We’re grateful to have Wonder as part of our Behavioral Health team and the comfort she brings to our patients. 💙🐶
