This is the link with the results from the 2025 Waldo Run! Thanks to all of those who participated, but we are especially thankful for the volunteers who helped us behind the scenes!

The Waldo McBurney Race is on Saturday August 2, 2025. It includes the following events: 12 and under 1 mile race, 5k, 1 mile, 200 meter kids race, and 12 and under 5k race.

🌺 Lisa (Manhart) Althouse Memorial 5K COLOR RUN/WALK! 🌺
Join us on Saturday, May 24th, for a vibrant and unforgettable tribute to Lisa (Manhart) Althouse. We’re celebrating her incredible spirit with a 5K Color Run/Walk that’s all about energy, joy, and community.

Why We Run:
It’s been 10 years since we lost our beautiful Lisa. Her love for running, her bright personality, and her commitment to community continue to inspire us. This event is our way of honoring her memory, supporting her family, and giving back to the Castle Rock Wellness Center in Grainfield.

This Year’s Special Twist:
We’re going tropical with a Hawaiian-themed Color Run! Participants will be splashed with bright, non-toxic, washable color powder at checkpoints along the course. The First 50 Participants receive a festive Hawaiian Luau Hula Skirt to match the Cruise, Shoes & BBQs theme.

What You Need to Know:
✅ Wear old clothing and shoes — color is non-toxic but may stain certain fabrics.
✅ Pre-register: $20 Early Bird (until 05.17.25), $25 after.
✅ Check-in starts at 7:00 PM Saturday.
✅ Glow-in-the-Dark Dance: Stick around after the race for a dance party under the stars with DJ Doug Manhart.

Want to participate without the color? No problem! You’re welcome to join the run/walk and skip the color stations.

All proceeds benefit the Castle Rock Wellness Center, supporting health and wellness in our community.

Congratulations to one of our most faithful members. Hard work pays off! 💪🏻🙌🏻

Carson Watkins, a junior at Quinter High School,
competed at the KEMFA State Powerlifting this past weekend in Claflin, breaking three state records in the heavy weight division, with 410lbs- Bench, 605lbs- Squat and 1,315lbs- total. All placing first and placed second in clean with 300lbs. He is now a back to back state champion with an entire senior year left.

We're having a raffle and would greatly appreciate your support! The drawing will be at half-time of the boys' basketball game between Quinter and Wheatland-Grinnell on February 11. You do not have to be present to win, but hopefully you will be there that night to eat a bowl of soup (a free-will donation for our cause) and support the basketball teams of Gove County.

The mission for Castle Rock Health and Fitness is to provide low-cost fitness centers for the citizens of Gove County. We have 3 locations: Quinter, Grainfield and Gove. One membership gives access to all locations! We aim to keep our memberships rates as low as possible. We have continued to have increasing numbers of people who regularly use the centers, but membership fees are not enough to pay for replacing equipment and building maintenance.

To get tickets, contact your local directors: Carmen Simon in Quinter, Kay Haffner in Grainfield or Kirsten Lundgren in Gove. Also board members: Dr. Doug Gruenbacher, Ivy Charles, Deidre Zimmerman, Amy (Holthus) Briggs, Andrew Tom, Diane Wetter, Tranda Watts and Jim Anstaett.

Lisa (Manhart) Althouse “Eye on the Prize” Memorial 5K Fun Run/Walk

We reached out to Janice, hoping she could share a memory or heartfelt reason why Lisa cherished running. Our intention was to inspire others to join us in the memorial run dedicated to honoring her. Janice wrote a letter to Lisa that is sure to touch your soul. We invite you to join us in Grainfield on May 26 as we come together to remember Lisa, celebrating her passion for running and zest for life.
