As both a veteran and a funeral director, I’ve had the profound privilege of serving my fellow service members in two ways: once in uniform, and now by helping lay our heroes to rest with the honor and dignity they deserve.

Today, I pause to honor all who have worn the uniform — those who stood ready to defend our freedoms, those who came home, and those who did not.

To every veteran — thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and service. And to the families who stand beside them — your strength does not go unnoticed.

Diana Marie Gill, age 65, of Mineola, Texas, passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 8, 2025.

A memorial service will be held under the direction of Preacher Jerry Williams on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Mineola First Assembly Church in Mineola, Texas.

Benny Ray Caldwell passed away peacefully in Tyler, Texas, on November 7, 2025, at the age of 64.

A Visitation with Viewing will be on Monday, November 10th, from 12:00 (Noon) to 2:00 P.M., at Faith Baptist Church (405 S. Hart St., Quitman, Texas 75783). Interment will follow at Smith Memorial Cemetery in Big Sandy, Texas.

Betty Sue Moore Usery passed peacefully from this world in her sleep on Tuesday morning October 21, 2025.

Sue will be interred at Holly Tree Cemetery beside her husband with graveside services on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 1:00PM. The family would like to invite anyone who would like to join for fellowship and snacks after the service at the Fellowship Hall at the Holly Lake Church of Christ.

Geraldine “Jerry” Jordan Nichols slid out of her 92-year-old body and through to the other side at 4 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Funeral service for Jerry will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Hospice of East Texas or Quitman Public Library - Quitman, TX.
