LCS History and Mission
Through a cooperative community effort, Curative opened its doors in April of 1951. This was made possible through the hard work of the Junior League of Racine, the excellent leadership of Mrs. John H. (Katie) Batten, and the cooperative efforts of local industry, the labor force, and the medical community. The facility design and initial programs were developed under the direction of C. Margaret Gleave, the founding Executive Director.
Today, LCS continues to provide hands on learning experiences specific to career development by offering skills training, job development, educational workshops and placement services to provide people with varying abilities an opprtunity to work in the community.
We provide training and community engagement for youth and adults of varying abilities to enhance their self-esteem and quality of life.
