Both 988 and 911 provide critical support but focus on different crisis types: the 988 Lifeline specializes in mental health, su***de, and substance use challenges, while 911 addresses physical dangers needing police, fire, or EMS.

Earlier this month 28 officers and deputies from Kenosha County Sheriff's Office, Kenosha Police Department, Racine County Sheriffs Office, Racine Police Department and Walworth Counties in Basic CIT (Crisis Intervention Team training). They learned about all the major mental illnesses, vulnerable populations including elder issues, Autism and Veterans with PTSD, Active Listening and many other training topics. After 33 hours of lectures, PowerPoints and class discussion they were put through several hours of scenarios putting together everything they learned in class. It is such a great feeling to see these officers change in their though processing and become better listeners to help those in need. NAMI Wisconsin NAMI Racine County NAMI Kenosha County Thank you Luke & Nick for your commitment to the cause of CIT.
