His Word says that because I look to Him, I am radiant and my face is never covered with shame (Psalm 34:5) and that I am clothed with strength and dignity (Prov. 31:25)! I am beautiful and chosen (1 Peter 2:9).

As James 3 says, the tongue is a fire and a restless evil. Whoa! That's powerful wording. Further, evil speech comes from "bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart" (James 3:14). In James, as well as other scriptures like Luke 6:45, we are told that the thing to address first is the heart. Speech flows not just from the tongue; it is rooted in the heart. We are called to address our heart issues in order to address our speech issues. The mouth speaks what the heart believes!
