Our Community Liaison Rep, Connie Shacklette, was honored to represent Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System during Kindness Week at Nichols Elementary in Bullitt County.

Students participated in meaningful conversations about:
✨ Kindness and empathy
✨ Mental health awareness
✨ Bullying prevention
✨ Healthy breathing and coping skills

We loved seeing students engage, ask questions, and practice simple tools they can use anytime they’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

At Lincoln Trail, our mission goes beyond one event. We’re committed to providing ongoing education, support, and resources to children, families, schools, and our entire community—because mental wellness is something we all deserve access to, every day. 💛

We’re grateful to partner with Nichols Elementary and Bullitt County Schools as we continue building a kinder, healthier community together.

Our team was grateful for the opportunity to attend the Ridge Behavioral Health Winter Conference and connect with others focused on adolescent mental health, trauma, and exploitation.

The themes throughout the conference closely aligned with our mission and the work we do through The Willows Program at Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System. The Willows Program is our specialized trauma program for young women ages 9–17. It provides a team treatment approach focused on acknowledging the impact of past trauma and emotional concerns, while helping patients build safe and functional coping methods.

Pictured are members of our dedicated team:
Kara Hawkins (Clinical Director), Courtney Dix (Outpatient Director), Julie Nall (Willow’s Program Manager), Mabelle Morris (Nursing House Supervisor), Sarah Davis (Therapist), Stephanie Dale (Outpatient Intake Coordinator), Courtney Gray (Therapist), and Cailee Priddy (Therapist).

Leslie Davis (Business Development) also represented Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System at the conference to share our programming and services with attendees.

This February, the Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System Outpatient Team is proud to support heart health awareness alongside the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women initiative.

🧠❤️ Mental Health & Heart Health Are Connected
Mental and emotional well-being play a powerful role in physical health. Ongoing stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma can increase blood pressure, disrupt sleep, and place added strain on the heart. Caring for your mental health is one meaningful way to support your heart health, too.

Here are simple ways to care for both your mind and your heart:
✔️ Stay active in ways that feel doable
✔️ Eat nourishing foods
✔️ Get consistent rest and sleep
✔️ Practice healthy stress management

❤️ Nearly 87% of heart disease is preventable with education and healthy lifestyle changes — and mental wellness is part of prevention.

This month, we’re reminding our community that whole-person wellness matters:
Healthy mind. Healthy heart.

Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month serves as an important reminder that help, hope, and recovery are always within reach. This month is dedicated to individuals who are considering or seeking support, the professionals who provide compassionate, evidence-based care, and the families and loved ones walking alongside those affected by substance use disorders. Even as we approach the final day of the month, the conversation — and the support — continues.

Lacey is on-site at CAPTASA in Louisville, alongside professionals committed to advancing substance use treatment and recovery. She is sharing resources, strengthening partnerships, and highlighting Lincoln Trail’s full continuum of care, including inpatient detox, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.

If you’re attending CAPTASA, we encourage you to stop by tomorrow and connect with Lacey to learn more about our programs and approach to recovery. We value opportunities to collaborate, educate, and support efforts that expand access to effective treatment and lasting recovery — not just during this month, but throughout the year.

During the recent inclement weather, the true heart of Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System was on full display. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff members who spent extended time at the hospital to ensure our patients remained safe, supported, and cared for.

Whether you stayed overnight, adjusted personal plans, or braved difficult travel conditions, your selflessness and commitment did not go unnoticed. You showed up—not because it was easy, but because it was necessary. That speaks volumes about who you are and the mission we share.

We also want to recognize the incredible team members who went above and beyond to help each other—including those who provided transportation, picked up and dropped off coworkers, and made sure everyone could safely get to and from the hospital. Your willingness to step in for one another truly exemplifies the spirit of teamwork and compassion that defines Lincoln Trail.

A special thank you to our facilities, nursing, clinical, and support teams who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our campus safe, operational, and welcoming during the storm. Your resilience and collaboration made all the difference.

Because of staff like you, Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System remains open 24/7 to support those in need. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, help is always available. You can call or walk in at any time—we are here to help.

We are incredibly proud of each of you. Thank you for living out our mission, supporting one another, and putting our patients first—no matter the circumstances.
