For another recent Signature Program, we took a whirlwind tour of world percussion, including listening to some traditional musical genres from around the world! 🥁 🪘

A few of the stops on our sound exploration included Indian classical music with sitar and tabla, Japanese Taiko drumming, Indonesian gamelan music, Cuban Rumba, and a West African drum ensemble.

We also tried out playing some traditional percussion instruments and discussed their history and musical significance. What a day of continued education!🎶

Don't our ladies look beautiful?! 🤩

They're wearing scarves inspired by the ancient Indian textile art called Bandhani, which involves dyeing fabric after tying intricate patterns with thread. 🧣

This process creates vibrant, colorful cloths for traditional garments which are beautiful to look at.

We were inspired to try our own version with a scarf-dyeing project and everyone chose their favorite colors to use! 🎨

With our 2026 shining light on the ultimate bucket list and journey of wellness, our residents were looking for new ways to enjoy physical activity this year! ✅

GreenSeekers Indoor Golf in Fairlawn was the perfect place to start with their new virtual golfing adventure. 🏌️ ⛳

We had such a fun time trying out something totally new to us like this, and many of our residents shared fun memories about the adventures they’ve had golfing in past years.

A big shoutout to their team for being so accommodating to our residents!

Of course we want to talk about warm and sunny Florida when it's this cold outside! 🌞 🏖️

Sherry and Mike Cornett, friends of our community, led our all about their recent trip to Sanibel, Marco Island, and Amelia Island and the seashells they found.

They’ve been collecting shells for years, and not only do they have a beautiful collection but they’re very knowledgeable about all the different types of shells, how they’re formed, and what creatures use them for a home. 🐚

To our surprise, they also brought shark teeth, sand from the different beaches, and photos and maps of the trip to make us feel like we were right along with them!

Thank you Sherry and Mike for bringing the beach to us for a day - it was a relaxing afternoon and we learned a lot too! 📖

In connection with our theme this month, we have been enjoying some “armchair travel” to India and art appreciation to learn about various types of traditional work across the country. ✈️ 🌏

Recently we learned about Bagru art, hand dyed block-printing technique from Rajasthan. We then tried out our own block-printed tote bag craft inspired by the beautiful Bagru pattern prints.

It was a lot of fun, and very educational, just looking through the beautiful collection of hand-carved wooden stamps we had ordered for this project. What a great way to also celebrate our Signature Program! 🛍️

We’ve kept the New Year’s energy going this month with a New Year Disco Dance social! 🪩🎷

Singing and dancing along to our favorite hit songs through the decades and toasting to the new year 2026 was such a blast.

Our residents love listening and dancing to a wide variety of of music so much so that our tastes span big band jazz from the 1940s, early 1950s rock and roll, folk music from the 1960s, to 1970s disco.

We even had some requests for a 1980s Michael Jackson song to do some moonwalking also! 🤩

Thank you to Valerie from for leading such fun and energizing Zumba Gold sessions! 🕺

We are kicking off the New Year with our Signature Program, a Journey of Wellness, complete with monthly step challenges, and Zumba is the perfect way to get everyone moving, smiling, and dancing together.

Valerie brings an exciting playlist each month featuring beloved oldies and upbeat world music. With this month’s destination set in India, we loved dancing along to lively Bollywood beats! 🌎✈️

She also surprised the class last month with beautiful hand-painted postcards she created for everyone. We’re so grateful for Valerie and the joy she brings to our community!

From familiar hymns and carols to amazing four-in-hand duets, the performance was truly incredible.

Our littlest elf, Holly, has been up to holiday mischief all month long at ! 😂🎄

Thanks to the creativity of Resident Program Assistant, Danielle, and Activity Assistant, Nate, who have been helping her find clever hiding places for residents to find her.

Holly has been spotted having adventures like fishing, sledding, writing Santa’s “Naughty List,” and other hijinks.

Now she’s on her way back to the North Pole until next year! Thanks to all our residents and families who participated in a little bit of silly fun with us this December by searching for Holly! 🔜

The Grinch showed up for our resident Christmas party last week! 🥳

It made for a fun afternoon filled with silly photo hijinks, Grinch punch, and Whoville games.

Our associates were also dressed for “A Grinch in Whoville Day,” because every Friday in December has been a spirit day for associates, and we appreciate all the holiday spirit they’ve been spreading this month!
