January’s quiet. Woods look dead. Deer still gotta eat.

Some bucks are already dropping antlers, especially older deer and those worn down from the rut. Others will hold onto them a little longer. Either way, winter is recovery season.

Cold temps burn calories. Antlers are gone or going, but the real work is happening inside the body. Minerals and nutrition now help set the stage for spring green-up and next season’s growth.

Same deer. Same dirt. Same habits.

Starting 2026, Idaho is officially pulling the plug on cellular / transmitting trail cams during big game seasons on public land.

🦌 If your camera sends pics to your phone → it’s illegal to use for scouting or hunting big game.

⏰ Aug 1 – Dec 31
đź“Ť Public land statewide
⚠️ Private land open to public hunting = same rules

âś… Still good to go:

• Old-school trail cams (SD card only)
• Boots on the ground
• Glassing, scouting, earning it the right way

🎯 The goal? Fair chase. Less real-time intel. More woodsmanship.

Bottom line:

If it’s buzzing your phone with elk pics in September… don’t run it.

Thank You for getting us through this year, the good days, the hard days, and the ones we barely survived. Thank you for the lessons we didn’t ask for but needed anyway.

As this year closes, help us release what we were never meant to carry, regret, fear, bitterness, and doubt. We leave it here. No dragging it into tomorrow.

As the new year begins, give us clarity instead of confusion, courage instead of comfort, and discipline when motivation runs dry. Help us work hard, love deeper, speak truth, and walk humbly.

Bless our families, protect our homes, guide our decisions, and remind us who we are when the noise gets loud. Let us honor the past without living in it, and step forward with purpose.

We trust You with what’s coming, even when we can’t see it yet.
