What an incredible day for our Hoke Campus!

Thanks to everyone who attended our groundbreaking ceremony - we can't wait to see how this hospital expansion helps us better serve our community.

β€œThis groundbreaking represents people, progress and FirstHealth’s core purpose - To Care for People.”

πŸ”¨ πŸ₯ We celebrated an important milestone this morning with a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off an expansion project at Moore Regional Hospital - Hoke Campus in Raeford. The project is a $50 million investment in the future of health care in Hoke County. It includes a two-story hospital tower, two dozen new inpatient beds and a 15,560-square-foot addition to the existing medical office building.

We expect construction to be complete next spring and plan to see the first patients in our new space in July 2027.

Well done, Heather!

πŸ‘ Congratulations, Heather!

Heather McColl, a nurse at Moore Regional Hospital - Hoke Campus, is the most recent winner of FirstHealth's DAISY Award, which recognizes employees who go above and beyond to fulfill our core purpose - To Care for People.

McColl was nominated by a colleague after a particularly heroic display of care in the emergency department. According to the team member, McColl was at the charge desk in the ED when she realized that a vehicle collision paged out on the Hoke EMS scanner was close by.

β€œHeather and the swarm nurse heard the call, proceeded outside to investigate and found a two-vehicle collision, with one vehicle overturned in front of the hospital entrance,” they said. β€œHeather gloved up and approached the scene to assist, recognizing that there were people in need of help.”

After a rapid triage of the situation, McColl confirmed that all the occupants from the vehicles were stable. β€œShe used her experience not only as an ED RN but also her previous role and training as a paramedic to provide excellent and heroic care,” the team member said.

🀫 😴 πŸ₯ Patient comfort and recovery are always at the top of mind at our four hospitals. Our care teams are dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients and support to their families 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

During the night, we also put a special focus on Quiet Time, a dedicated period from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. designed to create a calm, restful environment that helps patients during their hospital stay. Sleep is more than rest. It’s an essential part of the healing process. Studies show that uninterrupted sleep can:

- Shorten hospital stays
- Reduce readmission rates
- Lower the need for ICU care and ventilator support
- Decrease the risk of delirium and confusion
- Improve overall patient satisfaction

By minimizing noise and interruptions during these hours, we help patients recover faster and feel more comfortable. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3YV0k6W

πŸ€’ πŸ₯ 🀧 As flu activity continues to rise across the region, FirstHealth is reinforcing visitor guidelines and encouraging preventive measures to protect patients, visitors and health care teams.

Visitor restrictions are in place at all FirstHealth facilities, including our four hospitals, to reduce the spread of respiratory illness during this flu season. Some important reminders:

- Patients are limited to two visitors at a time
- No visitors under the age of 12 are permitted
- During this period of increased flu activity, visitation by immediate family only is strongly encouraged
- People with any respiratory symptoms, including cough, fever, sore throat or congestion should not visit
