While Halloween is a fun night for us humans, it can be scary and stressful for our pets. Enter our Howl-o-ween House (swipe) to see what spooky events might affect your pet and read below for tips to help them get through the ghoulish festivities.

⚠️The doorbell ringing and strangers coming in and out can be stressful for dogs and cats. Make sure your pets are secure or put them in a separate room for their safety.

⚠️Keep chocolates and candies away from pets. If you suspect your pet has eaten something dangerous, call your veterinarian or a vet emergency center.

⚠️Halloween decorations are fun but can create hazards for pets. Consider using battery-powered candles and ensure wires are out of reach from pets.

⚠️If your pet is showing signs of fear, take them to a quiet area with their bed, favorite toy and water bowl. Use music or white noise to help block out the screams of Trick-or-Treaters.

Early intervention is key in improving health outcomes for dairy cows.

For farmers and veterinarians alike, having early insight into animals’
behaviors - often before any clinical signs of potential illness are visible - can empower swift decision-making to minimize re-pulls and re-treats, all while optimizing animal performance.

Youngstock are the foundation of herd success, but they’re often the most overlooked.

In dairy farming, much of the focus tends to go to the milking herd. But the reality is clear: the decisions made during a calf’s early life, from colostrum management and nutrition to housing and health monitoring, have a direct impact on that animal’s future milk yield, fertility, and longevity.

This article explores why strategic youngstock management is not only critical to herd productivity, but also essential to achieving genetic potential and improving economic returns.

Understanding Canine Otitis Externa: Prevalence, Symptoms, and Best Practices for Care

Canine Otitis Externa is a common yet often overlooked condition affecting up to 1 in 7 dogs during their lifetime. Early recognition and intervention are key to improving outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for our canine patients.

Key facts:
- Otitis externa affects dogs across all breeds and ages, with allergies (environmental and food-related) being the most frequent underlying cause.
- Other contributors include parasites, foreign bodies, skin disorders, and moisture from swimming or bathing.
- Common clinical signs include ear scratching, head shaking, pain, unpleasant odor, discharge, and visible changes such as redness, hair loss, or crusting.

Prevention is Paramount:
- Routine ear inspections and cleaning, especially in predisposed breeds.
- Managing allergies and ensuring ears are dry after water exposure.
- Regular veterinary check-ups and grooming to maintain ear health.

Swine production is being transformed by digital technologies as the industry responds to rising demands for traceability, animal welfare, and operational efficiency.

Global pork production reached about 120 million tons in 2022 (FAO), underscoring the scale and importance of the sector — and the urgency of modernizing how we manage it. Producers today face growing pressure to adopt sustainable practices that satisfy regulators and consumers alike, while tackling complex day-to-day challenges such as disease management, biosecurity, and productivity optimization.

Digital tools — from IoT sensors and automated feeders to data analytics and precision-health platforms — can help producers meet these demands: improving traceability, enhancing animal welfare, streamlining operations, and supporting better decision-making across the farm.
