The compliance of your tissue is something I assess for just as I am assessing the rest of your features. No two faces are the same. When you’re being assessed I’m seeing today and thinking about the future. The health and integrity of your lip tissue, the harmony of your face, your goals and specific needs. To neglect any of these would be doing you a disservice. I enjoy a conservative approach and together we can make small changes over time until we reach that clinical endpoint.

This patient came to me wanting to address her gummy smile with a lipflip. Using tox to augmenting the movement of the muscle surrounding our mouth is a great use of the product. Ultimately I also treated her LLSAN, the elevator muscles that pull the lip upwards towards the nose. The middle photo is the result of tox only.

After allowing her tox to take effect we had a second appointment where we discussed the possibility of lip filler to help get her across the finish line to her goal smile. Using conservative doses (10units of tox & 0.7mL of lip filler) we achieved a result this beautiful patient feels confident about and comfortable in. Doing work that serves patients is my why 💓

This patient is a beautiful example of how important it is to pursue your lip goals at an appropriate pace. The race to find the cheapest price for the most amount of volume will only cost you more money and tissue integrity when it’s time to correct it.

The Virgin Lip with High Hopes 🤩🙌

We do a lot of at Blossüm; dissolving misplaced or migrated filler and then refilling for an entire new result. Truthfully, this is so flattering to be sought out to help these patients 🫶

But, we also get a TON of first-time-filler patients who are (understandably!!) nervous and unsure of what to expect. As someone with a lot of needle phobia/anxiety (only when I’m the patient!! You’re in calm hands when I’m injecting🤍) I can fully appreciate the amount of trust each of you places in us when you come in for your first lip 🌸

It’s something that will never be lost on me and such a cool part of my job. The consult, the education, the process, the outcome, the happy dance in the chair when your see them 👄🤩

This patient came in and her goals were lips that fit her face (always!!) and HEIGHT. Without adding product anywhere else her results yield a balanced lower third of her face and such a pretty profile. 💕🌸

Ozempic, a drug used on label for treatment of type 2 diabetes Mellitus and off label for weight loss can have some expected but perhaps unintended consequences.

Any time there is weight loss, there is a loss of facial volume due to fat pad atrophy. Rapid weight loss can exacerbate this appearance and also leave us depleted of the nutrients necessary to counteract these side effects, this holds true for ANY weight loss, not just pharmaceutically mediated weight loss.

The loss of these nutrients can disrupt the delicate balance of our GI & endocrine system causing our skin to lack it’s suppleness and volume due to loss of collagen, a connective tissue that lends to the elasticity and “bounce” of our skin. With collagen metabolism interrupted, we can be left looking gaunt and hallow, a far cry from the full and forward appearance of our youth- aka “baby face” (can’t believe we ever complained about “chubby cheeks”)

What is Facial Balancing?

Facial balancing is an advanced technique that uses the concepts of light, shadows, appropriate ratios and an artistic eye to harmoniously join each feature and area of your face in a way that complements your natural anatomy. Results are achieved through multiple modalities including filler, biostimulators, neurotoxin, and other regenerative therapies.

The final results are ✨unclockable, snatural, serving-face outcomes✨ that everyone will absolutely notice but not be able to decipher.

When this patient walked in she was so strikingly stunning. So when you meet God’s favorite, what are you even going to do as an injector?? 🤣🤣

it was really important to me to decipher her goals, address her concerns or anxieties, and provide her with comprehensive care that covered all of the above while also keeping her safe.

Her goals were realistic and together with our NP discussed the possibilities and formulated her treatment plan.

Teachable moment: this patient wanted really minor lip augmentation for symmetry and volume. However, I could not give her ANY more volume to the lower third of her face without addressing her chin deficit. If you look at her profile, you can see the chin is slightly under projected in her before. By adding lip volume alone, I would have emphasized her chin. Sometimes this can create the illusion of an overbite or over projected lip. She already has such great volume in her pyriform aperture and virtually lacks a nasolabial fold because of that volume, a lip alone would have created heaviness to an area that would have pushed her over the edge into looking “done.”

Instead, all of her features now flow together optically and her proportions make sense and are synergistic.

The issue is, where do you even start? I feel like I can deeply relate to that because I remember how overwhelmed I was at times trying to figure out a skin regimen. If you walk down the aisles at drug stores, they always have one but sometimes two dedicated aisles or just skin care!! That can be hundreds and hundreds of products to sort through. Many of them are using the same handful of active ingredients (salicylic acid, benzoyl, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, retinol) in unknown concentrations and usually in sub therapeutic doses. These products cost you more money over time in $10-$15 increments when they underperform and you have to go looking for the next one.
