🧠 October is Depression Awareness Month
Let’s break the silence around a condition that affects millions—and remind each other: help is available, and healing is possible.
📊 According to the National Institute of Mental Health, in 2021:
-21 million U.S. adults (8.3%) experienced at least one major depressive episode
-14.5 million (5.7%) suffered from severe impairment in daily life due to depression
Among teens and young adults, rates are even higher—with 19.2% of those aged 12–19 experiencing symptoms over a recent 2-week period (CDC)
💡 If you believe someone may be struggling, reaching out can be the first step toward healing. Here's how you can help:
✅ Start a genuine conversation about how they’re feeling
✅ Offer to help find therapy, support groups, or resources
✅ Assist with daily tasks that may feel overwhelming
✅ Keep inviting them to join activities—even when they say “no”
✅ Stay connected through messages, calls, or visits
✅ Make time to have fun and share joy
