It might be two nervous systems trying to protect you… in completely different ways.

One partner reaches for connection.
The other pulls back to find calm.

And without realizing it, you end up in the same cycle over and over again.

This is something we see often in couples therapy and relationship counseling. It’s not about who’s right or wrong. It’s about understanding the pattern and learning how to feel safe with each other again.

At Hearth Counseling & Consulting, we help couples slow things down, make sense of what’s really happening underneath the surface, and build new ways of showing up for each other.

If you’ve been searching for:
• relationship therapy in Raleigh
• couples counseling near me
• marriage counseling in North Carolina
• help with communication in relationships

You don’t have to keep guessing your way through it.

We offer in-person therapy sessions in Raleigh and virtual therapy across North Carolina.

You can book a free 15-minute consultation with our relationship therapists, Nade'a and Ariana to get started.🤍

You can feel fear, and still be safe.

You can feel unsure, and still be supported.

Sometimes what shows up in your body isn’t about what’s happening right now…it’s about what your nervous system has learned to expect.

That’s where the work comes in 💡

In therapy, and through approaches like EMDR, we don’t just talk about what happened, we help your body process it…so it doesn’t keep reacting like it’s still in that moment.

So your system can begin to feel something different.
A little more ease. A little more safety.
Not all at once, but over time.

If this resonates, you don’t have to hold it all on your own 💚 link in bio to learn more about how we approach EMDR therapy

There’s been a long-standing belief that EMDR isn’t safe during pregnancy, and that guidance originally came from a place of caution, when research on EMDR was still developing.

But over time, the research has grown and so has our understanding. Current evidence continues to support that EMDR is both safe and effective during pregnancy.

At the same time, we also know that unprocessed trauma can impact the nervous system in ways that affect pregnancy outcomes, including increased risk for complications.

So the conversation becomes more nuanced.

It’s not just about whether to avoid something.
It’s about understanding what kind of support is available and what may be beneficial.

In clinical practice, many pregnant clients who engage in EMDR report feeling more regulated, more prepared, and more confident as they move toward birth.

If this is something you’ve been unsure about, it may be worth exploring further with a trained provider 💚

“Do you take my insurance?” This is one of the most common questions we get, and totally fair to ask.

Here’s the honest answer: we’re in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna/SHP, and United Healthcare - but even if your plan isn’t on that list, you may still be able to work with us.

We provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. A lot of people are surprised by what their plan will actually cover. 👀

We also offer private pay options and provide a Good Faith Estimate upfront so you always know what to expect, no surprise bills, ever.

In-person sessions in Raleigh, Greenville & Apex.
Virtual sessions available across NC.

The hardest part is reaching out. We’ll handle the rest 💚

Full insurance info at the link in bio, or DM us.
We’re real people and happy to help.

This Women’s History Month, we keep coming back to this. 🌸

So much of what we see in our work the exhaustion, the guilt, the quietly falling apart while holding everyone else together doesn’t make the highlight reel. But it’s real. And it’s so common among women.

We celebrate women’s strength every March. But we want to also celebrate women’s softness. Their willingness to say “I’m not okay.” The courage it takes to sit in a therapy room and finally let something go that they’ve been carrying for years.

That’s strength too. Maybe the most important kind.

If you’ve taken even one small step toward your mental health this year — that matters. It matters for you, and it matters for every person watching how you take care of yourself.

Your healing is a gift to the generations that come after you. 💚

Share this to your story and tag a woman in your life who deserves to be celebrated today.

To the one who is always the “strong friend”… this is for you 💚

Being the steady one for everyone else is heavy work. Most of the time, burnout for the strong friend does not look dramatic or obvious. It often shows up as a quiet, internal fading.

Here are a few signs you might be reaching your limit:

✨Operating on autopilot - You are physically present and saying the right things, but feel strangely disconnected from your own life.

✨Patience running thin - Small, everyday tasks start to feel overwhelming. This is often a nervous system that has been stretched too far.

✨The resentment loop - There is a quiet frustration building because you give so much to others and have very little left for yourself.

✨The performance of “fine” - You keep showing up and holding it together because that is what people expect from you.

Real healing often begins when you no longer feel the need to perform strength all the time.

If any part of this resonated with you, you are not the only one who has felt this way. There is space to put some of the weight down 💚

Therapists spend a lot of time helping other people explore their stories, emotions, and patterns.

But outside the therapy room, we are also just… people. People who love books, dogs, good food, being outdoors, creative hobbies, and sometimes doing absolutely nothing.

This carousel is a small peek at the humans behind the therapy chairs at Hearth.

…because the relationship you build with your therapist matters; and connection often starts with the little things.

Swipe to meet the team ✨

Trauma isn’t about what happened, it’s about what your nervous system had to carry forward. EMDR helps the system do what it couldn’t do then, safely and at its own pace.

If this resonates, you’re not broken. Your body has been doing its best to protect you 💚

During Black Mental Health Week, we want to gently challenge a narrative many Black women have carried for far too long.

The “strong Black woman” identity has helped many survive unimaginable stress, trauma, and responsibility. Survival, however, was never meant to be the permanent assignment.

So many Black women are the emotional center of their families, their communities, and their workplaces. The ones who hold it together. The ones who keep going. The ones everyone leans on.

Therapy spaces continue to remind us of this truth:

👉🏾 strength and softness can coexist.
👉🏾vulnerability is not weakness.
👉🏾rest is not something you have to earn.

There is freedom in being supported.
There is healing in putting the armor down.

Sometimes birth doesn’t go as planned — and even when your baby’s here and healthy, you might not feel okay.

Maybe parts of your birth story still replay in your mind… or maybe you feel nothing at all. Both are signs your body and mind are trying to make sense of what happened.

You deserve space to process that 💚
At Hearth Counseling & Consulting, our therapists help mothers heal, rebuild trust in their bodies, and feel whole again.

Hi everyone, I'd like to re-introduce myself, especially to our new page followers! I'm Marina Cline, MA, LCMHC-S, LMHC, PMH-C.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the journey into parenthood, experienced loss — or found yourself wondering how to navigate big life transitions — you’re not alone. I specialize in reproductive and maternal mental health, supporting women, new and expectant parents, and their partners through infertility, miscarriage, infant loss, pregnancy, postpartum depression & anxiety, birth trauma, and the adjustment into parenthood.

Here’s a bit about my background:

I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College in New York.

I hold licensure in both North Carolina and New York as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC-S, LMHC).

I’m also certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International (PMH-C), and trained in EMDR therapy to support healing from trauma.

With over 14 years of experience working with individuals, women, families, and college students in settings ranging from hospitals to higher education to private practice.

My style? Warm, collaborative, strengths-based. I believe therapy is best when it’s a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel supported to explore, heal, and grow. I work through a multicultural, anti-oppressive, and social-justice-informed lens because every person brings a unique story, identity, and strength.

I’m currently accepting new clients for both in-person (Raleigh area) and virtual sessions across North Carolina.

Insurances Accepted:
BCBS, Aetna, SHP, United Healthcare (UHC), Healthy Blue, Carolina Complete, AmeriHealth Caritas, UHC Community Plan, Wellcare, Alliance Health. (Out-of-network accepted for other plans.)

If you’re ready to talk through what’s going on, or you just need a space where you can breathe and be heard — I’d be honored to walk alongside you. You deserve care, connection, and support.
