• Blurry or fuzzy central vision
• Straight lines appearing wavy or distorted
• Difficulty reading or recognizing faces

Could the holidays be dangerous for our eyes?
Here are some potential risks, you might not think of!

⚠️Champagne corks: A cork can fly at speeds up to 60 mph and cause significant eye damage

⚠️Fireworks: Sparklers burn at up to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit and pose a serious eye risk

⚠️Decorations: Dust from stored-away decorations can trigger allergies, while glitter and artificial snow can cause irritation

⚠️Laser pointers: High-powered laser pointers can cause permanent retinal damage if shone directly into the eye

Holidays should be a time to enjoy and celebrate, just remember to be careful!

Toys are fun, but some can lead to serious eye injuries!
Follow these guidelines to ensure safe gifting:

🎯Avoid projectile toys. This includes anything that shoots objects: like BB guns, slingshots, or darts. As well as toys with sharp points, heating elements or high powered lasers

🧸Look for age-appropriate toys and gifts with soft, rounded edges

⚠️Opt for toys labeled as compliant with safety standards

The average human eye can distinguish approximately 10 million different colors! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

This ability is due to the three types of cone cells in the retina, which are sensitive to red, green, and blue light. When these cones are stimulated in different combinations, the brain can interpret the vast spectrum of colors we see.

Some people even have a rare genetic condition called tetrachromacy, which gives them an extra type of cone and may allow them to see even more colors than average.
