Amivie Ohio has been awarded CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Partner) Accreditation across ten locations, along with Age-Friendly Care at Home Certification - a meaningful recognition of the quality, compassion, and consistency our teams bring to the communities we serve every day.

CHAP Accreditation is a significant milestone and a testament to Amivie Ohio’s dedication to delivering exceptional home and community-based services while maintaining the highest standards of care quality and operational excellence.

CHAP’s Age-Friendly Care at Home Certification recognizes organizations that implement the evidence-based “4Ms” framework of age-friendly care:

• What Matters
• Medication
• Mentation
• Mobility

This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to providing compassionate, compliant, and client-centered care across every Ohio market we serve.

Did you know 1 in 3 adults in NC has a disability?

At Amivie, these aren't just statistics. They represent the people we serve and the barriers we’re working to break down.

We are proud to highlight the Garner Recreation Center. By adding accessible playground features like ADA-compliant swings and wheelchair-accessible elements, spaces like this turn inclusion from a buzzword into a real, lived experience.

If you’re in North Carolina and looking for inclusive playgrounds in your community, this is a great place to start:

Because when we remove barriers for one, we open doors for all. 🌎

For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, independence isn’t about doing everything alone — it’s about having the right support to build confidence in everyday life.

In our latest blog, we explore how IADLs (Instrumental Activities of Daily Living) help individuals develop practical life skills that strengthen autonomy, dignity, and self-direction at home.

Because meaningful independence looks different for everyone — and every step forward matters.

Learn how instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) support independence and dignity for individuals with I/DD—and how Amivie helps build these skills at home.

No two days are exactly alike at our Burlington Day Program.

Earlier this month, participants traveled back in time at Granddaddy’s Antiques. This outing offered a bit of adventure, shopping, and time for a history lesson or two.

Amivie’s Day Support offers a wide range of enriching activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities. Our holistic approach nurtures creativity, enhances cognitive & sensory skills, and promotes emotional well-being.

Why is World Down Syndrome Day celebrated on March 21st?

It’s a nod to the 3 copies of chromosome 21 that characterize Down syndrome! 🧬

Tomorrow, you may notice many people celebrating inclusion by wearing bright, colorful, or mismatched socks.

Socks were chosen because their shape resembles a chromosome, and the fun patterns help start conversations and raise awareness about Down syndrome.

Did you know:
• Down syndrome is one of the most common chromosomal conditions in the United States.
• According to the CDC, approximately 1 in every 700 babies is born with Down syndrome.
• This means about 6,000 babies are born with Down Syndrome each year in the U.S. alone.

Awareness days like this help promote inclusion, acceptance, and opportunities for people with Down syndrome to live full and meaningful lives.

Are your socks ready for tomorrow?

Please join us in recognizing Deborah Polkowski, Chief Quality and Compliance Officer at Amivie.

Deborah has been with Amivie since September 2025 and brings a unique background that combines more than 15 years of nursing experience with two decades as a legal assistant in medical malpractice and personal injury law. In her role, she leads quality and compliance initiatives across the organization, supporting strong care systems and outcomes for the individuals and families we serve.

Deborah’s decision to pursue nursing was deeply personal, inspired by years of helping family members navigate home health and hospice care. She returned to school to earn her RN and later her BSN, driven by a desire to improve the way care is delivered in the home.

Outside of work, Deborah and her husband are celebrating 35 years of marriage. She enjoys spending time with their four grandchildren, boating and fishing on Lake Michigan, and adventures with their Bernadoodle (who doubles as a boat dog).

"It’s not about being in charge; it’s about caring for those in your charge."

And the Amivie Values Award goes to… 🥁

We’re still buzzing from the energy of our Leadership Conference, but one of the most meaningful moments was recognizing our Amivie Values Award winners.

These individuals represent the very best of who we are as an organization. Through their actions each day, they bring our core values to life:

• Collaboration – working together to support one another and those we serve

• Inclusion – ensuring every voice is valued and every person belongs

• Safety – prioritizing the wellbeing of our clients, caregivers, and teams

• Compassion – leading with empathy and heart in every interaction

• Integrity – doing the right thing, even when no one is watching

These award winners demonstrate that when we live our values, we create stronger teams, better care, and healthier communities.

Congratulations to all of our honorees. We are incredibly proud to have you as part of the Amivie family.

Severe Weather Alert: Staying Safe Across NC & VA

Severe weather is expected to impact much of the East Coast today, with North Carolina and Virginia facing the potential for strong thunderstorms, damaging winds, hail, and possible tornado activity. Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.

At Amivie, the safety of our clients, caregivers, and communities is always our top priority. Please take a few moments to review weather alerts and ensure you and your loved ones have a safety plan in place.

Safety Tips to Remember:
• Stay indoors and away from windows during severe storms
• Move to the lowest level of a sturdy building if a tornado warning is issued
• Avoid driving through flooded roads — “Turn Around, Don’t Drown”
• Enable emergency alerts on your phone and monitor local forecasts
• Have an emergency kit and plan ready for your household
