We’d like to close out Women’s History Month with a fun fact about the first Black woman to earn a medical degree in America!

Rebecca Lee Crumpler (1831-1895) was the first African American woman to become a female doctor of medicine. She earned her degree at the New England Female Medical College in 1864. She overcame intense racism and sexism to provide medical care to underserved populations, particularly freed slaves, and authored one of the first medical books by an African American.

We’d like to honor women like Crumpler as we reflect upon how far women have come in gaining equal rights. We hope you have had a wonderful March!

The TEDx stage at Morgan St Women was alive with inspiration this week! Nicole J. Wallace, LCMHC-QS, joined fellow leaders to experience the “ALL OF HER” theme, brought to life by producer Sybil Stewart.

Among the impressive lineup of speakers, Tabitha Lewis of THL delivered a particularly impactful speech. She moved the audience by illustrating how essential financial health is to a woman’s journey. It was a day of profound storytelling and actionable wisdom that left attendees like Nicole feeling invigorated and inspired.

This weekend, our team member, Sydney Hart, LCSWA, organized and facilitated a fantastic advocacy event, Holding Life! The event focused on raising awareness regarding maternal mortality. A big thank you to Anchor Perinatal Wellness and Time-In Moms for attending as vendors! We had an awesome time discussing maternal mortality and ways to decrease the likelihood of it by offering women of color, especially Black women, the support they deserve, when they deserve it.
