j u n e • 🫶🏽 this June I celebrated my birthday, saw my bestest friend andddddd hit 20+ weeks of pregnancy 🤰🏻
It’s not what you think.. a few years ago I realized I was DONE having kids. I was very content with my boys🧑‍🧒‍🧒 but becoming a doula I was around pregnancy and babies alllllll the time. Which led me to meet a mama who needed a surrogate. Fast forward to now, I became the surrogate another mama needed💘 I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant with a baby that isn’t mine and I am SO happy to be able to do this for them • cheers to 29✨

Let’s chat true labor vs. false labor. A lot of time mamas confuse Braxton hicks contractions (false labor) with true labor signs and that is totally normal and okay! The difference is simple. Are they regular? Every 2-5 minutes consistently? Or do they come and go? Are they lasting anywhere between 30-70 seconds? Or coming and going fairly quickly? Are you able to talk/ walk through the contractions? SO many important questions and so many reasons to hire a birth doula to answer these questions and ease your mind.

In a recent article I read, it said out of 2,400 women who have given birth only SIX percent had a doula. Wow! Granted, it has gone up within recent years. However, not enough! A lot of women don’t even know what a doula is. To be honest, I didn’t either and I truly wish I had the knowledge sooner. There are so many amazing benefits of hiring a birth doula. Whether it’s a partner who is queasy during childbirth or seeing blood or you may not have support around you (this is another reason to hire a postpartum doula as well)! Unfortunately, in the United States having a doula is not widespread. Let’s change that!!!

Did you also know the average doula is 40+ years old? Some people see me and sometimes ask how old I am. My age has nothing to do with the knowledge I have to share and give. And my age has nothing to do with my passion. Every family that welcomes me into their lives, are so important to me. Having little ones myself, I see every child as my own for those 8, 10, 12 hours that they’re in my care. And of course, you mamas, are my friend, a sister.. important! Just like labor and birth, postpartum is H A R D. To avoid PP depression, investing in a doula can truly help.
