Here's our Fun Q&A session w/ Gigi:

✴️What do you do for fun?
For fun, I love to travel and immerse myself in new cultures. I’m fascinated by how people live—their values, daily rhythms, and the food they eat. I also love walking, which is a wonderful way to clear my head and reconnect with nature.

✴️All time favorite book?
A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle — a beautiful reflection on travel, food, and the joy of living simply and savoring everyday moments.

✴️What are you watching or listening to right now?
I love all British mysteries. The charming villages, rich characters, and clever plots make watching feel like traveling—exploring new places, cultures, and ways of life from my own living room.

✴️ Best vacation you've ever been on and why?
My best vacation was when my husband and I rented a flat in Strasbourg, France, for a month—a life goal we had dreamed about for years. I loved roaming the streets with no schedule, practicing my French, sampling every cheese I could find, and savoring the small rhythms of daily life—a way of living I try to carry into my life today.

✴️What is something most people don't know about you?
Most people know I love organization, but they might not know that my label maker is one of my most treasured items in the house… and yes, even it is labeled. And before you ask—the answer is yes, it’s labeled Gigi’s Label Maker, just in case anyone was wondering.

If you’ve ever had a scary thought about your baby and immediately felt ashamed for having it—this is for you 🤍

Intrusive thoughts are incredibly common in pregnancy and postpartum.
What matters isn’t the thought—it’s the distress and cycle that can follow.

Perinatal OCD doesn’t mean you’re dangerous.
It means your brain is stuck trying to protect what matters most.

✨ Help exists.
✨ Healing is possible.
✨ You are not alone.

Ever thought that your metabolism is “slowing down” or “broken”?
What if it’s actually adapting—exactly as it’s designed to do?

In this roundtable episode, several HER+ Experts break down how women’s metabolism naturally shifts through different life stages—from adolescence and pregnancy to postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause. This conversation goes beyond calories and weight to explore how sleep, hormones, mental health, and evolution all play a role in how our bodies use energy.

If you’ve ever felt frustrated or blamed your body for changing, this episode offers clarity, compassion, and a powerful mindset shift: your metabolism isn’t broken—it’s renegotiating. 💛

🎧 Listen now and start working with your body, not against it.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Jess Coleman to the HER Expert Directory.

She specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that is useful for most mental health difficulties.

Here's our Fun Q&A session w/ Dr. Jess Coleman:

✴️What do you do for fun?
I enjoy dancing, walking outside, and spending time with my friends, partner, and two cats! I recharge at the ocean and in the redwoods.

✴️All time favorite book?
I have many favorite books, though the ones that immediately come to mind are The Long Answer by Anna Hogeland, Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, and What Looks Like Bravery: An Epic Journey Through Loss to Love by Laurel Braitman. And it's not a book, but I love Courtney Martin's Substack called The Examined Family!

✴️What are you watching or listening to right now?
My favorite show in the past year is Couples Therapy, which follows several couples each season in real therapy sessions. It is a great portrayal of what the real process of therapy can look like. My favorite movie of the last year was Past Lives. And I regularly listen to the podcasts The Birth Hour, and Wild Card with Rachel Martin!

✴️ Best vacation you've ever been on and why?
Last year I did a two week trip in Northern California, mostly spent on beaches and redwoods in Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino county. I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and live in North Carolina, and it was restorative to be out in the sun outdoors.

✴️What is something most people don't know about you?
I used to teach cardio dance fitness (called U-Jam fitness) during my undergraduate years and during my PhD program.

Moms don’t need harder workouts.
They need smarter ones.

HIIT works because it respects real life—limited time, changing bodies, and nervous systems that are already doing a lot. 💛
It supports your brain, your heart, your hormones, and your identity… not just your muscles.

And no—this isn’t about “bouncing back.”
It’s about building a body that can carry, lift, chase, think clearly, and feel strong now.

✨ Short doesn’t mean easy. Short means possible.

👉 Tap the link to read the full article by Dr. Norah Whitten and learn how to approach HIIT safely—especially postpartum.

Save this for later. Share with a mom who needs permission to start small.

We talk about consistency without control, honesty without oversharing, and how clear communication and boundaries can help kids feel secure—even in high-conflict situations.

Whether you’re blending families, co-parenting, or supporting families through change, this conversation offers practical insight, compassion, and reassurance that you’re not alone.
