World Prematurity Day — November 17: Honoring the strength of premature babies and the families who care for them.

For babies born too soon, human milk plays a uniquely powerful role. It provides essential nutrition and protection designed especially for premature infants, and when direct breastfeeding is possible, it also offers comfort, connection, and support for their developing systems.

Every drop of human milk helps protect a premature baby’s gut, supports immunity, and contributes to healthier outcomes. Even when breastfeeding at the breast isn’t yet possible, expressing milk is an important way mothers stay connected and involved in their baby’s care.

At La Leche League, we honor the courage it takes to navigate the NICU journey, one moment, one drop, one day at a time. You are not alone.

💚 La Leche League – 69th Anniversary 🎉
It all began in Wilder Park, a park in a small town near Chicago, where seven women gathered to share their experiences and support one another.

From that first meeting in 1956, La Leche League grew into a global network that continues to support and connect families around the world.

Today, 69 years later, we celebrate a legacy built on empathy, listening, and shared wisdom, one conversation, one meeting, one generation at a time.
