❤️ February is American Heart Health Month, and heart disease remains the #1 cause of death for women in the U.S.

Many women don’t realize their risk, and symptoms can look different than in men. Prevention starts with a healthy lifestyle, regular checkups with your OBGYN and primary care doctors, and keeping track of your BMI, blood pressure, and lipid profile.

All month long, we’ll be sharing heart-smart tips you can use right away. ❤️💪

On , we’re joining a global effort to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and mobilize action to address the global cancer epidemic.

What cancers do we routinely screen for at Kamm McKenzie OBGYN?
-Cervical cancer (pap and HPV testing)
-Breast cancer (mammograms available with On Site)
-Colon cancer (Cologuard or referral for screening colonoscopy)

We can also offer hereditary cancer genetic testing to patients at elevated risk.

Take action in the fight against cancer and schedule your annual exam today. If it has been a year since your last mammogram, ask the schedulers to book your annual with a mammogram appointment at our Durant Road location!

🗓️Shorter days and less sunlight during the winter months can impact mood, energy, and sleep. For some women, this shows up as increased fatigue, low motivation, or feelings of sadness.

☀️Sunlight helps regulate:
• Serotonin (mood)
• Melatonin (sleep)
• Vitamin D levels (overall wellness)

A few gentle ways to support your mental health this winter:
• Spend time outdoors during daylight hours when possible
• Sit near windows or natural light
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule
• Stay physically active
• Reach out for support if mood changes feel overwhelming

If winter blues start to interfere with daily life, it’s important to talk with your provider. Mental health is an essential part of women’s health — in every season. 🩵

⏰Starting prenatal vitamins at least 1–3 months before conception gives your body the best foundation for pregnancy.

Prenatal vitamins provide key nutrients.
• Folic acid: supports early neural tube development
• Iron: prevents anemia + supports oxygen delivery
• Choline & DHA: important for brain + nervous system
• Vitamin D & Calcium: strengthen bones + immune health

It’s recommended that you continue prenatal vitamin postpartum and while breastfeeding. Once you run out of prenatals, buy a women's one-a-day multivitamin to support nutrient stores during this important time of recovery and milk production!

🤰 Winter mamas-to-be, here are a few cold-weather pregnancy tips:

🧣 Dress in layers. Your body temp changes quickly!
💧 Hydrate. Dry air = dehydration sneaking in
🧼 Wash hands frequently. It’s flu & RSV season
💪 Get recommended vaccines! Flu, Covid, RSV, Tdap
🥾 Always choose shoes with good traction. Safety first!

Small steps make a big difference for you + baby. 💕
